I read "shop sim", saw overwhelmingly positive review score, a juicy sale and didn't bother read reviews as I usually do. Shop "sim" is a bit a stretch, it is, as others pointed out, more an idler/clicker kind of game. Not my cup of tea at all. Joke's on me, I know, but that doesn't mean I cannot warn others.

A satisfyingly grindy-but-not-mindlessly-so resource management game with lots of interlocking systems, an engaging story, and a delightfully quirky video game setting with some surprisingly interesting worldbuilding. It deserves way more attention than it seems to be getting! There are undead birds! There are dimension-hopping horses! There are lesbian sorceresses! All selling points in my book, but obviously YMMV. If you're reading the comments wondering how deftly the "destroy capitalism from within" conceit is handled, the answer is "eh, sort of." There's some biting satire and some mildly complex political roleplaying, but nothing particularly mind-blowing or well-grounded in real-world anti-capitalist theory. Also, this seems to be a setting where the alternative up until now has been feudalism, which is a real glass house of an exploitative economic system to be throwing stones from. Fundamentally, it's a capitalism sim for people who think capitalism is deeply uncool and want their numbers-go-up playtime with a generous serving of cynicism and irreverence for the whole concept.

I have to start off by stating that I am genuinely scared to write this review. Every other negative review has received a big response from the developer about how they're wrong to feel the way they do about the game. Some have also been harassed by other players for it. But that's precisely why I'm writing this right now. While by no means one of the worst games ever made, I don't think this game deserves a 92% score. And I think if people felt safe to share their opinion on it, that score would have been more representative. I truly hope the developer will leave me alone, but that's something I have no control over. I will leave comments disabled to protect myself. Let me start with the good. The story setup is very unique, about a Fairy queen becoming a business woman to defeat a bad company that's been wrecking havock in the neighbouring country and now threatens her own. The mechanics of running the store, finding products to sell and more that I'd rather not spoil, are fun and offer a variety of gameplay. There's a little bit of representation in there for the gay and lesbian communities. At first sight, a promising game. But then there's the bad. I don't say some…

Such a well done game, though completely different from SNES RPGs like FF6 or Secret of Mana it really had that vibe going on a smaller scale. Secrets everywhere, choices actually mean something. Great job
