What are you doing in my swamp? A setting around a swamp is rather uncommon if I may say so, Myristica does a good job at creating a dark atmosphere with it. Your boat needs fuel, so its time to explore and do the stuff horror games usually come with, picking up keys and using them to get more items. Something is lurking and stalking you, the only means of defense is a camera with limited film. The only thing I didnt like was the chaser. Its a perma chaser. Once its on you its on you, its not hard to gain distance, but I found that to be disappointing. There are a few good jumpscares, like the creature running past you into the darkness, and I would have wished for the chaser to do the same. Let the skinny guy teleport around a little and scare me by appearing in front of me out of the distance. Also, the chaser is not Shrek, very sad. Thank you XUM Studios, for providing me with a copy, much appreciated! Horror/Surrealist centered Curator: KuriKuration

I would like to start this review by congratulating the developers for a job well done. I have seen this project come to fruition ever since its early development and have been waiting for the finished product ever since; it is safe to say, I am glad to have been excited about it. This is a project that never sought to be anything it wasn’t, and since its inception, it has been loyal to what it drew inspiration from. So once again, props to the developers for a job well done. Myristica took me back to a time when things were much simpler yet engaging. I remember playing through the original Slenderman for the first time and how scared and shocked I was to experience a game such as that one. With time and much experience playing horror games, I have become somewhat desensitized to jump scares and shock. However, one thing I will never get used to is the pleasant experience of a simple game that does its job very well. Out of all the things this game does well, I would like to highlight the following: gameplay, graphics, and setting. Myristica has very simplistic gameplay, reminiscing of the aforementioned original Slenderman from the early 2010s. The gameplay is very streamlined…

Short & sweet horror game that doesn't overstay its welcome. As someone who doesn't play horror games I think the fear factor is done relatively well, except for the loud screams from the chaser, although this might just be personal preference. I ended up just lowering my in game volume anyways. The puzzles are relatively simple, although not in a bad way as they are intuitive enough to a point where you won't just get stuck, with different areas to explore and find objects to help you. All in all, a rather enjoyable game, and I enjoyed being one of the ones to playtest it and give feedback. For only 6 dollars you're getting something quite charming, in my opinion.

A good horror survival game. The setting around the swamp and forest creates a dark atmosphere for the player. One often feels helpless and lost in the confusing forest. However, this creates an oppressive atmosphere. In addition, you always have the feeling that the monster is close to you, which creates additional stress. Sometimes I would have wished for a SavePoint. A good challenge. Thanks
