About The Chant
A single-player, third person horror action-adventure game set on a remote island spiritual retreat. A peaceful weekend soon turns to dread after a group chant opens The Gloom, a psychedelic dimension of terror that feeds off negative energy. Interact with a recurring cast of characters, untangle the complex history of the island, and witness terrifying revelations about the cosmos. Only you can fight off the creatures, reason with the survivors, and unravel the legacy of a cult from the 1970s to reverse the ritual.
EXPLORE AN ISLAND FILLED WITH COSMIC DREAD
Interact with the other members of the retreat as they slowly become consumed by their own negative energy. Survive against an array of prismatic creatures and cultists released from The Gloom as you piece together the weird history of the island.

FIGHT OR FLIGHT

Full of bugs, atleast on my system. Run the .exe file in the game folder to get rid of the stuttering. But its not realy wort it..2 found this helpful
I was skeptical at first due to the mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it. It's like a low-budget Resident Evil with melee combat. The boss fights are decent and I really enjoyed the final chapter + boss. For some reason the performance is really choppy when you load the game but after 10-15 minutes it seems to correct itself. It's very short and can be beaten in under 4 hours (achievement for this), so I would only recommend the game on sale.1 found this helpful
Fun little game. A mix of Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil with an essoteric twist. Just imagine this remastered with the RE Engine and production value. Potential.
I think its great. It exists in the same space as the callisto protocol in that care was taken to make it look nice, and the melee combat is a very simple matter of swinging a stick, sidestepping and using an ability here and there. The lore is interesting, being about abuse of power and greed in a cult setting. But the on screen story, while visually interesting, doesnt have a lot going on. The characters are mostly flat and entirely defined by their big life trauma. Each character pretty much has a chapter dedicated to them, where they are the person sending you on the fetch quest to collect the mcguffin to continue the story, giving you a new ability, and they always end up being a boss. It has an open level design, with sections gated off by the "gloom" which you need prisms to enter. This is more like a key to a lock than metroidvania style ability gating, although you do gain new abilities with the prisms. But abilities are more for combat flavor than map progression. All in all its a comfy, linear game with good pacing and atmosphere and engaging enough combat, progression, and story. The dlc is a great little showcase of the core mechanics of the game without too much sto…
The game runs at 5 to 10 FPS and I am unable to fix this.
