I Wish i could like the entire game but it has too many problems for me to think of a positive tone for this IP. - First, the story is at most "somewhat decent" and at least very mid to bad writing. - 2nd the free DLC is honestly the worse for the game on its story, like yes it nice to conclude on what the game is but they could have done better than making the dlc collect 6 fragments for a mask and be done with the dlc after a boss fight cause its more lengthy then a fun story telling dlc and just rinse and repeat 6 times with some new abilities that add very little to the game in general. - 3rd the frame issues and stutters are horrible for a single player game, cause what do you mean the stutters and frame issues stop showing when playing "OFFLINE" it makes no since. the game acts like a proper single player game offline but when you are connected to your internet or playing through steam while your profile is online makes the game stutter like its connected to some online service WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING A SINGLE PLAYER GAME THAT DOESNT HAVE ANY ONLINE SUPPORT. - 4th is the game breaking bugs where you get soft lock and hard lock in the main story like npc characters getting ah…

VERDICT(copy/pasted from the bottom): All in all, ill say this game, while not an easy recommendation is definitely a recommendation. Its short, fun and does not overstay its welcome. Fun combat, very interesting world... loved each gloom experience. But its strange optimization oversights will definitely make the experience waaaaaay more frustrating than it needs to be. A lot of the mental exhaustion comes from just seeing jess run through barron terrain until the assets load in... its made me step away a few times while forcing myself to play the story to the end. It does hamper the experience... but the combat is fun... simple... but fun for sure. Fruit and nut version of Resident Evil. They are: powerful, hideous monsters You are: a hippy holding incense FIGHT! Intro was stuttery as all get out, gameplay after that was not. I blocked the internet attempts at the firewall FWIW.

I enjoyed this game as a mystery / spooky adventure cult themed experience. The mechanics of resources like the mind, spirit and body is different and works well because it adds some variety to manage. Weapons while simple, fit the purpose of using the environment to survive. There is also a free dlc which was a nice extra to do some light roguelike gameplay as well.

runs like garbage screen jumps every 2 seconds no matter the settings i am beyond min requirements, i have this on xbox and wanted to exprience it on pc because i love this game but the screen jumps ruin it unfortunatly boo such a good game too

I really enjoyed The Chant. The psychological horror elements worked well for me, though I can see why some players might find them disturbing depending on their real-life experiences. The Mind, Body, and Spirit system is a neat idea, and it actually makes you pay attention to how you play. It feels like you need to keep all three in balance, since letting one drop can leave you in a bad spot. The bestiary is also worth reading, since it gives useful hints, and the game throws in a few light puzzles and some solid exploration/lore to keep things moving. My only real issue was the stuttering at start-up, which in my case seemed to improve after leaving the game idle for a short while. That nearly put me off, which is a shame. If you can get past that, it's definitely a hidden gem. I picked it up through a mystery bundle and I'm glad I gave it a chance. I'll probably replay it for different choices, then try the DLC.
