About The Dreaded Hut

A torrential flood drowns a quiet rural village overnight — but when the waters recede, not everything that returned was human. You play as Ramon “Monching” Vergara, a young man searching for his missing sister amid the wreckage of their hometown. The floodwaters left behind strange symbols, unholy murmurs, and a silence heavier than death itself. Armed with little more than a gas lamp, a farming tool, and his will to survive, Ramon must uncover the truth buried beneath the mud and memories of Sitio MaligBut as night falls, the line between the living and the damned fades. Every shadow hides something watching. Every whisper carries a curse.

Allow me to preface all of what I'm going to say with this: This game is clearly made with love, and for a studio cracking into horror like this, I'm genuinely impressed with this first game, any criticism I give is purely meant to be taken constructively! I will do my best to avoid spoilers for the game as well, but there will be some! Pros: Excellent design of models. The hair and faces of the main characters are well made and very realistically designed and I can tell a lot of energy went into them, although the facial animations are a little lacking. The monsters are also horrifying to look at and even hold up upon close inspection. Well done! Atmosphere: This part is excellent, the fog and mists really contribute to the feeling of dread in the main world and do well to obscure without totally blinding the player! Story: The story itself is relatively passable. I found myself engaged in the world and honestly curious what came next! Cons: Lack of clear direction: After certain segments of the game it can be unclear where exactly you are meant to go, especial because the fog can make areas blend together. A cursor or toggleable compos of some kind would have been very help…

game is kinda a banger, ngl. it's definitely indie and budget, but i feel like it works. like old horror games on ps3 or something. the facial animation on the characters is sweet too, probably better than aaa games. only got like an hour into it, seems fun so far. not that hard, almost like a walking simulator with action. filipino silent hill right here

You can really see how much heart and passion the devs put into this game. The graphics are outstanding and the story-telling is gripping. I haven't been able to finish the entire game as of now, but from what I've played so far, I can tell you will like this game a lot if you enjoy challenging PvE combat combined with puzzles and lore exploration. One recommendation I do have to further improve the game is to have difficulty selection. The current state of the game feels like an Intermediate level, but as a Beginner gamer, I'd love to be able to explore the story & lore without dying fifty times because I significantly lack combat skills LOL. But otherwise, it's overall a GREAT game and I did get hooked! I plan on playing it even more to get past the enemies and discover the mysteries of Sitio Malig. It's a great game to get lost in after a long day. Very immersive and attention-grabbing at every point and there's never a dull moment.

Visually, The Dreaded Hut looks great. It’s refreshing to see a Filipino survival horror game that offers a fairly long playtime and a world that feels expansive, almost open-world in design. The story, environments, and characters strongly reflect Filipino culture, which I really appreciated. My main issue with the game was the number of bugs that appeared during my playthrough. From what I’ve seen, other players have experienced similar issues as well. I’ve already shared detailed feedback and bug reports in the developers’ Discord server, and I’m hopeful that future updates will address these problems. The gameplay itself is straightforward survival horror: exploring the environment, collecting items, reading notes, and engaging in combat with enemies. The pacing can feel a bit slow at the beginning, but it gradually opens up as you progress. Considering the developers mentioned that the game was created in about six months, the overall scope and presentation are quite impressive. I purchased the game on launch (January 30) and encountered several bugs during my initial playthrough. Since then, the developers have already released patches that fixed some issues, which is grea…
