About Myst of Guatemala
Hey there, fellow gamers! I am the indie developer for the game named "Myst of Guatemala" , which was inspired by a real historical event: The Guatemala Syphilis Experiment.
From the 1940s to the 1970s, the US government conducted a series of unethical syphilis experiments on unsuspecting Guatemalans. Local prisoners were subjected to extremely dangerous substances, including drugs, viruses, fungi, asbestos, and dioxins. These experiments were conducted for research in skin diseases, biochemistry, and pharmaceuticals. The prisoners suffered severe physical and psychological injuries, and many experienced mutations or even death.
Sound scary? Join this game, find out the truth of an abandoned villa in Guatemala, you will come face to face with something even more terrifying!!

"Myst of Guatemala" is a first-person horror adventure game set in a claustrophobic villa in Guatemala.
In this game, you are an brave investigative journalist. Following a distress signal from your long-lost comrade Eddie, you find yourself at a mysterious Guatemalan Villa shrouded in rain, facing a huge locked gate. While suddenly dark red blood slowly flows out of the rusted mailbox right in front of you...As you trace your friend's disappearance, you must navigate eerie corridors and outsmart monsters in a relentless pursuit. No one knows where you'll end up!
The game contains one prologue and four chapters with horror storylines that will keep you engaged till the very end. Your adventure will be full of unexpected jump scares with terrifying visuals and animations. There are also diverse puzzle-solving challenges, which make escaping becomes a mind-bending challenge.

As a creator of horror games, I'm always interested in scary historical events and imagining even more horrific supernatural events that may have happened behind the scenes of history. Guatemala is a mysterious place, so when I found out about this real event, I was so interseted and thinking hard to conceptualized a horrifying mystery lurking behind it. The truth, in my imagination, should be bone-chilling enough and a righteous investigative reporter will go in alone and uncover secrets hidden in the rainy night with bravery and wit.
It's hard to say what's in it for the poor reporter, while I feel it's very engaging as a horror game. Endless puzzles and mechanisms, unexplained psychic phenomena and scary monsters, all of which will make you wonder if this world really exists! I tried to keep a balance between jump scares and an engaging storyline. I want to ensure that every moment in the game is filled with suspense and meaningful engagement as you uncover the mysteries of Guatemala.
The game may have a follow-up development program to deliver an even more immersive and spine-chilling experience. So if you have any feedback, I'd love to hear and value it!
Thank you for your patience. Stay tuned for "Myst of Guatemala", and get ready for an adventure that will make your heart race and your mind tremble!

This game is filled with pointless jump scares that literally have no relevance to the story. The story itself is only mediocre, with very brief notes scattered throughout. The gameplay was a bit tricky to understand at first, because it was not clear that the flashlight is an item in the same way that keys and other items are; that is, your light source is not constantly in your hand, but has to be switched with other items when those other items need to be used. The animation is low-quality, and the voicing seems to be computer generated. Overall, this game is very poorly made and amateurish.6 found this helpful
Okay so we all know with a $3 horror game what we are expecting...at least a ball park. I am actually hugely shocked at how much I enjoyed this game! The graphics are insanely nice considering and what I truly loved is how fair they were about things like puzzles. Every minute I spent in game was a minute enjoying the game and not wandering around questioning how anyone would put two and two together. I really appreciate that there were cues to tell you where to look next and I didn't find myself becoming frustrated at it like I do most other "cheap" horror games. This is such a cute little hidden gem of a game that I would recommend to any casual "walking sim" horror game enjoyer. It's not Madison...or Visage... but that's not what you're looking for when buying these smaller Indie games. I really recommend buying this one! It's definitely worth the few bucks :)4 found this helpful
