However, there are exceptions. Some visual novels are so well constructed in their other areas that they're worth experiencing for those alone. Lost Infinity falls in this category. It's an odd and intriguing game that I liked the writing for, but found stronger in its atmospheric set-up. I'll do my best to explain why. [h3]Story[/h3] Lost Infinity introduces you to Faith, a man who is disillusioned by the world he lives in. He finds the body of a woman on the ground and decides to bury her. This is not easily done, for the city he lives in has ground that cannot be dug into. Thus, Faith sets out to find a location to lay the woman to rest, and your character (no default name) accompanies him. This isn't a visual novel that cares much for its narrative. The focus isn't on a plot, but on questions that humanity has asked itself time and time again. Would you rather live forever, or pass on when the time is right? Is it better…

i wish i could recommend it because the game has huge potential. i loved the vibe, the art and the music, it's the writing that holds it back. maybe it's due to it being badly translated, who knows. also i really don't appreciate lines in russian being left in the english version of the game. do better

Because this was put together with the Ren'Py e-book construction kit, it didn't require any actual coding or development. It's a tool for failed authors to push their garbage high school anime club dropout fanfictions as games. Just like there's no professional writing here, there isn't any professional software development either. This Russian e-book is a cringey dystopian fan-fiction translated badly by Google Translate (which just makes the bad writing worse) where the author pretends to be edgy and write about how depressed they are. If I was so bad at game development I couldn't tell the difference between a book and a video game, I'd be depressed too. If I was so delusional that I would publish said book on Steam, I'd be inconsolable. Anyway, this is garbage. Visual novels/e-books are the worst way to try read a book (and they're always written far worse than real books too). Imagine reading your favorite book, be that War and Peace or Twilight (are you ok??), but you have to click the mouse for every single sentence that appears. You'd hate it. I didn't really get it? It was intriguing, and brought up topics about existentialism. But maybe this game is just too complex for me. If you are a more philosophical person, you may enjoy this more.
