The Endless Empty

This game reminds me of a way cooler & more charming version of an art assignment I once did and received a mid grade for making it too chaotic and abstracted. It's undeniably edgy but still offers a solid and relatable representation for various themes regarding society, philosophy, identity, transience, emotion, and others. The game structure with each chapter revolving around a certain element and fully committing to it aesthetically is very pleasant, I absolutely loved seeing the creativity in the diverse gorgeous and gritty designs, combined with the world-building and amazing atmospheric soundtrack! I enjoyed that despite the general abstractness and vagueness, the narrative is still comprehensible and explicit with its messages - the concept of different characters being embodiments of specific feelings/mindsets is a great addition too! The turn-based combat might feel tricky at some point, but taking advantage of the areas which allow unlimited battles-grinding and having some patience to level up simplifies it a lot. Altogether I found this to be a beautiful, contemplative and memorable experience which managed to resonate with me.

i havent playd all of it yet, but this game is genuenly so incredily good. ive jusr been sitting and like crying a bit bc i got emotional and stuff but its a realy good game. the storry is incredibly well writen and its verry deep. the actual fights are pretty fun aswel and i like the gameplay a lot. this is brobebly the best game ive bought ever. aswell for the way to cheap price. If you like games where you actualy think about the story and stuff defenetry get this game.

The Endless Empty is a phenomenal game. I've been planning on playing it for a few weeks now, but once I started, I ended up finishing the entire thing in one sitting (it's roughly five hours long, which is pretty long for me to just sit gaming). The artstyle is something I simply haven't seen pulled off anywhere else with nearly the effect it gets here, and the music is similarly excellent (and the two combine together perfectly). The narrative is deeply compelling, and it feels like it says what it wants to say. The characters also really work well (which is often fumbled in games that take place inside of someone's mind), feeling like they appropriately fit with whatever aspect of the mind they represent without being dull. Additionally (although I'm barely a horror gamer), it feels like it succeeds very well in being psychological horror. The environments are offputting and bleak, and the things it implies are often also offputting and bleak, but it doesn't make much use of more direct horror elements (like jumpscares). One of the most bizzare and absurd games I had the pleasure to play, the concept and the value of the story really hooked me up to this amazing experience that I wish more people could also play.
