About WILL: Follow The Light

WILL: Follow The Light is a story-driven, first-person adventure puzzle game about a perilous personal journey through the harsh northern latitudes. To find peace and reunite with his family, Will must sail across endless waters, face numerous challenges, and ultimately discover himself.

EXPLORE A STORY OF FATHERS AND SONS

You play as Will, a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in the northern seas. The story begins during one of your typically solitary shifts when an unexpected radio message shatters the routine. A sudden disaster has struck your hometown, and your only son is missing. Determined to find him, you must set out on a quest aboard your sailing yacht, Molly, navigating the treacherous northern seas. The harder you search for your son, the more questions arise. What hidden truths lie in your bond with your own father? Where is your beloved wife? What has happened to your family? The answers are scattered across the unforgiving northern environments you explore — an abandoned island accessible only by sea, a mountain range traversable by dog sled, and your home now standing among ruins and accessible only on foot.
Through the journey, you discover and confront truths about yourself, whether you’re ready for them or not. All of it to save your son……or yourself?

FEATURES:

  • A stunning northern wilderness – breathtaking northern landscapes on land and sea, brought to life in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Deep exploration and traversal systems – realistic sailing and dog sledding mechanics let you explore a vast world.
  • A story of fathers and sons – a compelling narrative adventure in a mysterious setting, with puzzles, secrets, and revelations in every chapter.
  • A cinematic adventure – experience Will’s story through narration and environmental storytelling.
  • Challenging puzzles – encounter immersive puzzles and set-piece moments.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the atmospheric storytelling, compelling character development, and surprising plot twists, with some comparing it favorably to Life is Strange. However, common complaints center on the restrictive, linear gameplay that feels more like a guided walking simulator than an interactive experience, along with frustrating puzzle design, technical bugs that block progression, and a story that, while occasionally engaging, can feel predictable and poorly structured with narrative inconsistencies.

Disappointing overall. It starts strong, but falls apart fast. Great early atmosphere and solid sailing mechanics, albeit with very little depth, but everything after the lighthouse feels janky and unfinished. There's odd transitions from one area to the next, the NPCs look absolutely awful and move like uncanny animatronics, the dialogue is amateurish, the environments look like mismatched third‑party assets, and the voice acting is wildly inconsistent. The story goes nowhere, puzzles turn into tedious and repetitive chores, like having to light your lamp using the same frequency puzzle for the 10th time, and the protagonist’s flat, emotionless delivery is some of the worst main‑character voice acting I’ve ever heard. At £22.49, the quality just isn’t there. Not recommended.

This game bashes fathers. it presents them as absent and abusive drunkards while presenting mothers as angelic scientists. This is a sailing sim bait and switch. I played for three hours and sailed for all of two minutes.

It's an indie game and it has flaws of course. But that's the thing, the authenticity of indie games and the atmosphere that this game brought made me enjoy playing it, despite the puzzles tho. Wish there could be more sailing and having more interactions in the cabin. Overall a good game to enjoy over the weekend.

An ok little indie walking simulator. The story has no resonance for me cause it's father-son stuff. The graphics are fine for an indie. Voice acting is hit and miss. Not bad for a short offline story diversion.
