Simple but fun!

This game should just auto battle because what's the point of fleeing ... the toughest decision is how deep do you dig to get the bonuses. I'm glad I got this in a bundle, because there's nothing really compelling me to continue after I killed the first boss in about 4 or 5 runs. Sure I see different types of characters in the screenshots that I haven't unlocked, but I'm still meh about unlocking them. The only positive I can think of is each run is super short. Unlike some of these reviews that people write about the game. Seriously, there isn't that much depth.

Heroes Against Time takes the familiar foundations of a roguelite and trims them into a fast, strategy-focused experience where building the right party matters more than spending hours developing individual characters. Developed and published by David Vinokurov, it sends players into an enchanted forest threatened by an advancing magical fog. The objective sounds straightforward, but surviving depends on recruiting useful allies, exploiting combinations between their abilities, navigating efficiently, and becoming powerful enough before the available territory disappears. Party construction is easily the most interesting part of the design. Throughout a run, different allies can be recruited, each contributing abilities and interactions that can alter the effectiveness of the entire group. The challenge is not simply to select whichever character appears strongest. A seemingly modest recruit can become extremely valuable when paired with someone who enhances the same strategy. Conversely, several individually capable characters may produce an inefficient party when their strengths have little connection. This encourages experimentation and makes discovering effective combinations…

This is a fantastic, simple, quick, but deceptively thoughtful dungeon crawler. Good solid variety... and then it opens up. You realize you've only just scratched the surface, and the puzzles you thought you had figured out, totally shift with more of the same, but a same that is even better.
