I picked up the game with the understanding that its a bit borked. However, I love AC and PW, so I figured I would give it a try. Game doesn't start. I spent about 2 hours going through forums and trying beta branches and unofficial patches, old DX9 runtimes, OpenAL updates, creating a config.ini because the game couldn't be bothered...all to no avail. Apparently, the engine just doesn't recognize my 9070xt as a D3D device. According the to forums, I've seen people having to disable audio devices because it can't handle having multiple audio devices. The game looks great. I love the art style. I love that its another indie AC game. I just wish I could get it to launch. I just cant recommend spending money on a game that just doesn't work. Heck, its not even that old of a game. Refunded. Try at your own risk, maybe things will go better for you.

Vector Thrust is an ambitious aerial combat game that blends arcade-style accessibility with a surprisingly substantial collection of aircraft, missions, challenges, and customization features. Developed by TimeSymmetry and published by Iceberg Interactive, it takes a noticeably different visual approach from most military aviation games by using cel-shaded graphics. Rather than chasing photorealism, it presents aircraft and battlefields with bold outlines and an illustrated appearance, giving the game an identity reminiscent of an animated military series. First mission fails immediately after destroying all enemies.

I had been meaning to buy this for years, ever since Vector Thrust Infinite was announced by InfinityUSEA, but I haven't gotten around to the mod, so all I can talk about is Vector Thrust as it is. I ignored the warnings for years: was sure I'd find something of value here. That I did, but only after installing the Unofficial Patch 2. Though a broken mess resulting from an overbearing publisher, Vector Thrust's campaign, from the first to last mission, is an Ace combat experience through and through. Yes, voice lines are missing, the game crashes constantly, including following the final credits, and performance ranges from acceptable to any but, but within the Hollow Thunder campaign is the DNA of what would become Project Wingman: the Legion, a precursor to the Peacekeepers, serving its own New World Order: the International Coalition, as the Peacekeepers do the Pacific Federation. The presence of Airships, though more common in Military Science Fiction, etc. Perhaps it is a good thing this title failed. Stay away. Bought this awhile ago to try out... There's a reason it's cheap... UI is awful, voice acting is pretty bad. It's close to Ace Combat, but it doesn't do what people like about that. Plane is slow and you always seem to be too fast for the enemies. So you chase and then stall. (I played only the first mission and kept failing somehow...) I do like the art direction of the planes, but that's the only thing that has cell shading. The contrast makes it seem kinda stick out in a bad way...
