Brutal Orchestra

Very, very creative game. Even though the TBOI inspiration is very present, the artists managed to give a unique and bizarre touch to every character and enemy. Unfortunately, gameplay wise, there's not much to it. At least for me.

Fun little turn based rouge like Not something i'd obsese over, though im not a huge turn based play. Humble Bundle aquisition & i see it as a suitable unique dynamic puzzle to play from time to time.

[b]An incredible expirience in gameplay and story[/b]. Thanks to the small grid the battles take place in you're always placed in front or the side of the enemy, so most of the time looking at their intent (as well as their passives) matters, and as healing and shield moves are made difficult to play with [i]the pigment system[/i] (until you learn to use your health as a resourse) you are forced to learn how to move your fools out of the bigger attacks while dealing damage yourself, resulting in a very fulfilling gameplay loop. A small gripe is that the game can be slow to execute your turn, even if you disable animations it still takes a moment to show the pigment moving on your pallet or has a delay to show a status being applied, [u]not a major problem[/u] since you spent a bit of time thinking your turn already, but it adds up as you play the game longer.

Takes the messed up atmosphere from Isaac and puts it into a turn based roguelike, very cool!

It shouldn't have been a roguelike. ✔ pigment mechanic - you get them mostly by hitting and getting hit and expend on skills, which creates a dynamic puzzle ✔ art style, visual enemy design and setting ✔ pretty unique enemy mechanics ✔ humor ? replayabilty from unlocking new characters (but nothing else) ? almost all of the game is combat ✘ RNG is off the charts - random party member from the very start, 40% on action to get blue pigment, constant left-or-right shuffle on enemies, and to top it all off random insta-killing moves on enemies. Got an item, which eats away your pigments at the end of the turn so you are safer from overflowing? Guess what - it's random which one! ✘ heavy restrictions on character power - only one move per turn, one piece of equipment per party member (all of them pretty weak and they never substantially change your play style), single level up per floor, up to three skills per character (some have four, but you have to choose one or get randomly assigned when you get that character) ✘ repetitive, but what's worse is that combat has to be slow and methodical by design.
