About Stoneshard
Build your own mercenary with 200+ abilities and 400+ equipment pieces, then survive the war-torn kingdom through tactical turn-based combat, careful resource management, and permadeath consequences. Every decision matters in this unforgiving open world where you'll nurse wounds, manage your sanity, lead a caravan, and uncover mysteries while one wrong move can end your run for good.
There’s no hand-holding, and the game will punish you for your mistakes: you’ll have to carefully prepare for each expedition, plan your actions in advance, and weigh your resources against possible risks. Saving can only be done in certain spots, so each wrong move can potentially lead to a swift death and lost progress.

Don't let the negative reviews fool you. One of the most common complaints this game gets is about the save system, but people love to overexaggerate how restrictive it actually is. I was also put off by that and didn't buy this game for years because I thought that saving in this game was way worse than it actually is. You can save by sleeping at a craftable or purchasable sleeping bag, in any tavern, ruins, towns, some dungeon entrances, and many camps that have sleeping bags outside. Temporary saving is also possible upon exit. Saving in this game is completely fine, and it only adds to the game's incredible tension. It's a very good hardcore survival RPG. If you enjoyed Battle Brothers you will probably like this one. Combat is fun, lot's of skill trees, different equipment, weapons and builds make every run feel different. You are exploring a dark-fantasy medieval world that's accompanied by beautiful pixel art and atmosphere. Every fight feels like a rewarding high-stakes gamble because you can't save scum everytime a fight doesn't go your way. There is also a layer of meta-progression with caravans. Saves only by sleeping??? lol? "every mistake can mean death and loss of progress." I will never understand this "i enjoy wasting my time" mentality. people should grow up. of course I am going to play considering my every move, and I'll be upset when an unfair mechanic kills me costing me all my progress. this is just bad design. It is sad I was enjoying the game so far, but this is turned out to be just another masochism simulator.2 found this helpful
