About Devil In The Capital

With the nationalization of the Iran oil industry and the establishment of the national government in 1952, the hands of the British had been cut off from the Iranian oil. Notwithstanding this, they try everything in their power to defeat the national government. Amid foreign and domestic acts of sabotage and attempts to overthrow the government in Tehran and Southern Iran, hidden forces in Northern Iran join to steal the Iranian oil. This is aggravated by the killing of the representative of Rasht, who was an advocate of the national movement, and of a number of police officers in Rasht and others dispatched from Tehran. Thus, detective Mohammad Afshar is dispatched to Rasht to unravel mysteries about these actions which were against the national interests. In addition to learning about a number of gruesome murders, he discovers efforts to divert people’s attention to multiple crimes to prepare the ground for a coup. Another anti-European game from RSK. They begin with some newspaper articles about how Britain interfered in their "democratic elections" because Iran nationalized their oil. Our hero chuckled that the West will no longer get their "oil benefits" from Iran. Considering all the oil equipment and the oil itself was purchased by the British for millions of pounds, I wouldn't exactly call that charity. The last game forced a connection to the murders with Britain and America to trash those countries. This game does it again by having a British boarding house owner held responsible for things found in his tenants' rooms. RSK claims the game is based on historical events. Are we to believe that the British staged a bunch of murders to try to distract Iranians from the overthrow of their government? If that's true, Persians must really have short attention spans. As usual with these games, there is also an extremely heavy-handed isolationist, xenophobic slant. Our hero compliments a copy of a famous Vermeer painting done by some "great Iranian artist" that would rival the best painters. Later, he sees a painting of a European village and says it's very poor taste to depict any scenes out…

this game deserves a mixed review, and it's pretty shameful that Steam has never made that kind of voting possible. in fact, one should be aware that it's not really a game. there are a few puzzle-like actions, but it is mostly a story you watch and an incomplete one. it has animated novel sequences, and then exploring zones but you're very limited in what you can do or interact with there. the puzzles are pretty basic, and in fact i would mostly remove them and just focus on the visuals and story if i were directing this game. this, and the other games in this series, feel like they want to tell an intriguing story in interesting environments, but without a lot of action (fine, for a point & click) and without the necessary details that would make the story understandable or believable. for a disclaimer, i believe there's a political tie-in to all three games which involves international intrigues involving the Middle East. i'm not offended by that at all, and it interests me to learn about this era from the perspective of those to whom this history properly belongs. but in order for one to make an interesting story or "game", this needs a lot more details fleshed out. mo…

Nice, but very easy indie adventure game based on real historical events . I have not encountered any progress breaking bugs. Game cost me 1 € (black friday discount). Pros: + Based on real historical event + Partially occult theme + Unique setting (Iran) + Good game If you like classic point & click adventures Cons: - Lenght (only 3-4 hours) - Weird perspective (messed up angles, character not properly scaled to background etc) - Strange pathfinding sometimes - No english audio - Trivial difficulty (including "puzzles") - Translation is not very good, it often describe things differently as you see them on screen

this is an very traditional p'n'c old school adventure game. you playing a detective who investigate a ritualistic murder mystery. story is intriguing and puzzles are quiet easy and typical. you don't stuck because a notebook and detective's himself always to say what are you supposed to do. characters speaks persian but subtitles english. when you press to space hotspots are marked to make it easy. No need to hunt for pixels. graphics looks decent but cut scenes looks so muddy and dark. sometimes double click doesn't work for run, controls are clanky, musics can be annoying and i also didn't like abrupt ending but overall this is an good classic adventure game but yet i only recommended to old school adventure game lovers.

This was like reading a book. You could really only take things in 1 direction. i often felt confused as to what to do next. nothing felt satisfying and the story wasn't all that engaging. It just wasn't my thing. I barely spent any money on this but it still wasn't worth it. I would recommend finding some other way to spend your time.

Devil In The Capital is a narrative-focused point-and-click adventure that builds its identity around murder, political intrigue, and a historical period rarely represented in video games. Developed by RSK Entertainment and published by Strategy First, the game takes place in Iran in 1952, during the turbulent period surrounding the nationalization of the country's oil industry. Rather than treating history as a simple backdrop, the story incorporates political uncertainty and competing national interests directly into its mystery. The result is an investigative adventure that combines traditional puzzle solving with the atmosphere of a noir crime story. Players assume the role of Mohammad Afshar, a detective drawn into a disturbing investigation in Rasht. A representative associated with the national movement has been murdered, and the situation becomes increasingly alarming when police officers and investigators sent from Tehran also become victims. What initially appears to be a sequence of killings gradually reveals connections to something considerably larger. Afshar begins uncovering signs of organized political activity, sabotage, attempted oil theft, and a potential coup. …
