About The Drifter

  • A Pulp Adventure Thriller from the minds that brought you Peridium and Crawl.
  • An engrossing roller-coaster of a story- Drawing on King, Crichton and Carpenter, with a dash of 70s Aussie grindhouse.
  • Point 'n Click or Controller- Unique twin-stick controls make The Drifter as comfy to play on the couch as at your PC.
  • Bursting with raw crunchy pixel art and high-impact animation.
  • Professionally voice acted, with a brooding dark-synth cinematic score.
Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned. And that's just the start of Mick's problems. His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death...Framed for the killing he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by the feeling that something followed him back from the other side...Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a lunatic web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand-year obsession of a madman.
The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel. We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.

this game was so good!! i initially bought it because it looked so stylish, and the story, music, and gameplay were just as amazing. the art was absolutely gorgeous with a lot of memorable scenes. the story was funny and devastating and hopeful and clever all at the same time. the opening music was really what did it for me; i was immediately hooked and stayed engaged the whole way through. i genuinely wish i could play this game for the first time again lmao- absolutely recommend <3 EDITING THE REVIEW TO INCUDE HOW MUCH I LOVED THE VOICE ACTING BC I SOMEHOW FORGOT THE FIRST TIME

At first, I was a bit confusing with the story line. Then much later, it all start to make sense but yeah, I think it's a cool story overall. Really enjoy the adventure game, it has the nostalgic touch and it doesn't feel clunky to play. Voice actings are great. The most unique about this game is the puzzle, it's not a typical puzzle adventure games. The puzzles are how you act in sequences to untangle dangerous situations. It took me a while to work out all those puzzles but it's very refreshing experience. Apart from the gameplay, I especially like the dialogue system, easy to use and building up clues, stop you wasting time on repeating dialogues.

I'm generally not a point & click player, in fact this is only my 3rd point & click game in my 15 years of PC gaming. But the artstyle caught my eyes and i heard many great things about the drifter so i gave it a shot. I have mixed feelings about it in the end, the gameplay really wasn't for me and it dragged on a bit too often. But the excellent characters, story and especially the vocal performances by the cast make me lean towards a positive review. The drifter is a game that lives or dies on the strenght of its story which was mostly great despite some pacing issues. There were some clichés/tropes and very predictable turns but as a whole it wasn't half bad. The premise is cool though, tying dying into the story and gameplay was a cool gimmick that's well executed. But the characters themselves and their voice acting really did the heavy lifting here. While some lines were a bit too heavy handed, especially those coming from the main character but only some. All the other lines and deliveries were excellent which is rare for an indie title. The animations are also super expressive despite the 16 bit artstyle, speaking of which the game is a real eye catcher. Despite there not …

Nice story, good voice acting and fair puzzles for a point-click game. Play it, but wait for a better discount.
