Call of the Sea

this game is quite amazing. I like the visual style a lot. Puzzles were fun to solve. Also the story was unusual for lavcraft type of stories so the plot is really nice too.

Very spooky and creepy at parts, but no jump scares

[h3] Meaning of love and chronic illness with Dagon in the background [/h3] Very nice short story about love and choices in a "lovecraftian mythos" wrapper. As mentioned in the title, Dagon is there but [spoiler] literally [/spoiler] and figuratively in the background. It's not the centre of the story at all. For me the game focused on the love of 2 partners and chronic illness. It's not a masterpiece and doesn't try to be it. But it is very well made! Since it included worldbuilding, a number of side-characters, story and most wonderful - voice acting of the main heroine, the pace of the game was much slower than you would expect from regular puzzle games of similar type. It's right in the middle of a puzzle game and visual novel style where you almost watch it as a story. [hr][/hr] Story: For me it was cute and simple (it the best way) Worldbuilding was very well made, not too much elements, but everything that was chosen to be added - was well developed and integrated into the story. A lovely story that takes a broader view on the Cthulhu mythos and succcesfully shows the wonders, not just the horrors, it contains. The puzzles are generally fun, though a few feel overly padded for length, especially towards the end. This is not the most demanding or technically impressive game, but often has beautiful art direction and manages a sense of grandeur and wonder in its visuals and its audio design. I didn't have any issues playing the games on Linux; the loading screens stretch and change aspect ratio sometimes, but that's hardly worth mentioning.

Call of the Sea is beautiful, haunting, and interesting to play through... once. There is a lack of real tension and traversal through the gorgeous landscape can be a chore at times. The puzzles range from mildly interesting to fidget level in complexity even though some are somewhat entertaining. While the game does have an interesting story, as a game, it feels like an interactive walking simulator that never presents any real danger and has as much range as a choose your own adventure book, but without any real choices. The 9 hours it took me to complete the game was time that I enjoyed, but I am not planning on diving back in even though I did not complete all the achievements. In the end, it's amazing that any game actually gets finished. Hats off to Raw Fury.
