Isles of Sea and Sky

Incredibly well designed puzzle game with no frills.

Great puzzle game! Enjoyed the sense of progression and how everything combines towards the end.

Easy recommend if you enjoy puzzles and pixel art. I really like how the game just drops you in and you have to figure out the mechanics yourself (obviously in rooms that teach you without telling you). If you ever get stuck somewhere, you can explore another area.

I 100% this game, and I think most of the puzzles were really good. Over its lifetime I think there was only 1 puzzle which I think had a really poor solution that wasn't properly hinted, and it was one of the final puzzles in the game. By the time I got to the end I was pretty exhausted, and looked up some hints for a few of the final pyramids, but everything else was really fantastic! Probably a 4.5/5! Great stuff!

I got this game on a sale and definitely got my money's worth. The game starts off really charming and pretty straightforward. The difficulty definitely ramps up. Sometimes I was patient and really tried until I solved something. Other times I just gave up and tried to find help online. As another reviewer said, unfortunately a lot of the online help is before an update that changed some puzzles. I finished the game with 71 Stars but don't know if I will come back for full completion. I highly recommend the game, but be aware that it doesn't stay relaxingly simple and becomes quite difficult later on.

Unfortunately, playing the demo for Order of the Sinking Star halfway through this game kind of spoiled the whole experience for me. That demo just highlighted the nagging issues I had with the puzzle design with Isles of Sea and Sky and showed that a sokoban can be done so much better. While the exploration is decent and kept me engaged for a while, just grabbing collectables and moving through the world with a sense of progression, the actual puzzles were lacking. Each puzzle feels like a somewhat random collection of objects that can be pushed around without a clear identity or purpose. While, thankfully, the difficulty is never too high, the puzzles nonetheless just started feeling tedious to solve.
