Sultan's Game

If you're a fan of Cultist Sim, Book of Hours or the Strange "Shop" series, you'll like this game too. If you find the mentioned games tedious or don't like games with little to no hand-holding, then you would not find this fun. Still 12 hours in and I have yet to finish my first run (Albeit on Easy). So plenty of chance to replay for different choices/endings, higher difficulties or fate combos. Really enjoying the writing and the discoveries I've made so far. Yes, after a certain point these kinds of games will be running through the motions to achieve different endings. Though you will have made your money's worth by then, and it is what you get into when in this genre. You will have plenty of content to go through, choices to make and endings to see. Very much recommend

"Beat" the game for the first time (By managing to destroy all the cards and survive) so I figured I would give it my review. The gameplay loop is pretty simplistic but addictive if you allow yourself to get immersed in checking out all the different consequences what each card will do in a given scenario. If you like "card based resource management" games this will definitely scratch that itch. After dying early so many times though and seeing what a lot of the early gameplay loop has to offer, I have to wonder if this game will wear out its welcome by becoming more redundant the longer you play past your first couple victories. You have to be really interested in the story and what the meta-progression offers if you want to get value beyond that, especially for the price. I found quite a bit of enjoyment personally, though I did start to just quickly skip a lot of the repetitive narrative beats after a while (tap-tap-tap, click-click-click). I will say, this game has at least ignited in interest in card resource management based games that I didn't even know I had, which means I'll likely be checking out games like Cultist Simulator and whatever expansions and mods this game …

Sultan's Game got me really hooked to sat my Cultist Simulator itch, but this one had much much more depraved tones. I picked this up on a whim after I saw it on my wishlist with a discount, and holy, I did not regret spending one bit. This game's main strength is definitely its glorious artworks and world building. It is maybe because I am an artist myself that I appreciate the graphics and how they set the UI a lot. The narrations unlocks depending on what card you use for each scenario presented. There is good amount of replay value as the outcomes can vary from what actions you take and I was knee deep venturing the story and the characters. I enjoy the moral dilemmas. This game is definitely easier if you don't mind being evil (but everything has consequences), and it's fun to (f*ck around literally and) find out. The gameplay is definitely nothing special, it's just your usual resource-management card game. But would you eat a tasty cake with crappy and a bland dressing, or would you prefer to eat a tasty cake with beautiful topping? I would take the latter. There are many other games probably like it, but I'd play this one again and again.
