Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom is a chaotic arcade platformer where you flip, dash, and bump your way through hand-crafted retro levels without a jump button, stringing together moves to reach impossible places. Packed with secrets in obscure corners, eccentric characters, and a narrative conspiracy to unravel, this passion project captures the wild spirit of classic gaming with developer personality baked into every frame.

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom! is a trippy arcade platformer ready to take you on a crazy adventure!

Wait, It's Not A Driving Game?

In this chaotic platformer you spend more time in mid-air than on the ground, even though you have 🚫 NO JUMP BUTTON! String together moves to reach spots even the developers haven't accounted for, as you flip, dash and bump your way to new heights!

Hoarder's Paradise

We took "collectathon" seriously! Make your way to the most obscure and difficult to reach corners of our hand-crafted retro levels and we made sure there's something there for you to collect! ... We dare you, try to get out of bounds 👀

The Questionable Crew

Pizza King, Morio and Ultra Chad are only a few of the weirdos you'll interact with as you piece together the narrative puzzle and unravel the grand conspiracy happening on Granny's Island! 🌴

Genuine Passion Project

This entire project is the brainchild of Matteo and Lorenzo, who made everything from scratch out of genuine passion for the olden days of video games! 🎮 The game wholly reflects their personality, and judging by the trailer... trust us, it's a trip worth taking!

What if you combined Mario 64 with Crazy Taxi? And that's how Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom is born. More precisely, the game is a platformer focused on collectibles, where new levels are unlocked as you collect them. You control a taxi with a good variety of movement abilities, and you can combine some of these moves, similar to games like Mario, A Hat in Time, and others. Once you learn how to properly use all of your movement abilities, you can also find ways to take paths that weren't necessarily intended by the developers. The game initially consists of a hub, with each world inside it being mostly accessible through portals that open after collecting a certain number of green gears. One thing I really liked was the variety of themes across the worlds, with some of them even changing the gameplay a little. Some examples include a beach heavily inspired by Sonic's Green Hill Zone, a corporate tower clearly parodying a certain company, a world inside the mind of a very crazy guy, and many others. I recommend reading the dialogue, even if it's just to see all the bizarre stuff and parodies, like Bio Vandisel talking about family or a muscular guy named Captain Abs-urd. Some of these…

best game ive played this year hello????????? - the humor is absolutely peak i would giggle at almost every reference or funny thing from an npc - the movement is CRAZY good i love the imagination you need with all the ramps and stage elements in order to Go Up - the graphics are peak, its like trying to be retro but not that much and i love it - the difficulty might not be beast-level but it aint baby-level either, its a pretty good balance - the music was pretty impressive as well, theres not a single track that i wouldnt vibe to - funny taxi

I'm amazed at how much juice they managed to squeeze out of the concept here. A platformer where you're a car that (mostly) doesn't jump, hitting ramps and using boost tech to do cool platforming and collect cogs, is a pretty cool concept, but could have ran dry if it weren't for the many twists on the idea you get presented with. We've got straightforward Mario-esque levels with extra bits off to the side that leads to coins or cogs. We've got big open areas where you have to top up a level timer by doing Crazy Taxi-esque escorts, giving you opportunities both to get cogs by moving people to their destinations, but also more time to explore the terrain and find other cogs hidden in the scenery or across complex driving challenges. You have top-down driving sections that remove some of your mechanics and change the control scheme to present something that operates more through flat planes and boost ramps. You have stealth, boss battles, dog poo-dodging, sewer-sliding, sea-slogging, maze-hunting good times throughout, and you unlock abilities and learn mechanics at a steady pace that opens up how you revisit levels, too. The fascinating thing is that you have a good amount of the …

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A GAME LIKE THIS SINCE I STOPPED SPEEDRUNNING MARIO ODYSSEY IN 2019. I'M SO GLAD I FOUND YOU, YTGV. Spoilers below. LOTS OF CAPS LOCK BECAUSE THIS IS HYPE. :D + The movement in this game is AMAZING. I've always been a fan of "no jump button" games where you gotta figure things out on your own and get creative in order to beat the levels (like Bat to the Heavens, AMAZING GAME AS WELL, GO TRY IT), and man, THIS GAME IS JUST IT. So, so, so satisfying to flip all over the place and essentially find your own solutions to getting gears just baaaarely out of reach. And I definitely found a few that I wasn't supposed to this early on because I unlocked a few things later in the game and was like, "Oh, dang... I was supposed to get that BEFORE I grabbed that gear in the beginning of the game" then realizing I was just so sick and didn't need it because they designed this game to let you break and bend the rules a bit. + The level design is very nice. I absolutely love verticality in games, and this game's got tons of it. If there were a spectrum for good level design with Mario Odyssey at one end and A Hat in Time at the other end (AHiT being the best 3D platforme…
