About Adventure of a Lifetime

“There’s something I need to get back. Something precious that sank into the ocean years ago."

Continuing the Coming-of-Age Collection, featuring If My Heart Had Wings and A Sky Full of Stars, MoeNovel is proud to present Adventure of a Lifetime.

The story takes place on the World Heritage-listed Ogasawara Islands.

After a four-year absence, Hiroki Mizuno returns to the island during his summer vacation to help his grandmother with her shop.
The story begins as he encounters a beautiful blonde girl, Emily, on the deck of the ferry on his way to the island.

Emily has run away from home. She has her mind set on retrieving “sunken treasure”.
Chisa, an old friend with whom Hiroki reconnects on the island, provides some insight.

“The Ghost Ship―that's what we call one of the shipwrecks around here."

It’s said that the treasure Emily is after lies in a shipwreck that disappears each time there’s a storm.

Emily, the beautiful blonde-haired girl.
Chisa, the childhood friend with golden, suntanned skin.

This summer, pass the days on a tropical island with two beautiful girls, scuba diving, and adventure!

Their destination: the “Ghost Ship”.
Somewhere just past where the sky meets the sea...

Features:

  • Character-specific story branches to play through
  • Full voice-overs throughout the game for all characters (not including the protagonist)
  • Stunning sights and sounds from the underwater world

Adventure of a Lifetime is a title I struggle to figure out whether I would recommend or not. At its base price, I guess it is a fine enough purchase, but I would definitely consider getting it during one of the 50% or greater sales that MoeNovel tends to run for this and its other titles fairly often. That makes me lean toward slightly considering this title worth a read. I was mostly interested in this title because it was written by the same writer and developer behind If My Heart Had Wings and A Sky Full of Stars, two of my favorite slice-of-life moege visual novel series. In many respects, this feels like a completely all-ages, shortened version of those titles. It is a two-route visual novel that takes less than 10 hours if you are an average or faster reader. It does at least attempt to stand out through its setting, which takes place in the Ogasawara Islands, a real-life group of islands in Japan. It does a pretty good job showing off the local culture and the appeal of scuba diving, snorkeling, and other activities on the islands. Naturally, the question is how good the two main heroines, Emily and Chisa, are. They are... fine, I guess. If you have read If My Heart Ha…

A short relaxing VN abut first love and a treasure hunt on a paradise island. A teenage adventure story for the younger audience and idyllic childhood reminescence for the older. Well done graphicaly and with voice acting, It has its own unique music complementing the story very well. More like family friendly story with some fan service than an existential drama. What I liked a lot is that the actual locations depicted in the story do exist in Japan and you can get some local cultural and geographical trivia from the game. I do not have any problems with recommending it.

High production value, PG-13, relatively short VN. Translation is natural sounding, soundtrack fitting, setting pleasant. Two main girls are fine I guess. Enjoyable if a bit underwhelming. Played on Deck with no issues except don't press the Start button; that will crash the game. [Edit: Actually, there was one other reproducible crash, but the workaround is to switch to GE-Proton7-18.]

nice story, had its sentimental and meaningful bits. mentioned lots about the island they were in and the culture such as the bon festivals, nearby wildlife such are the tiger sharks, and historical facts. Honestly a good game to learn a bit about the tropical islander life around Japan. only critique is that its a little ecchi, like unnecessarily so, but i guess that i can't knock it for it. it's a visual novel afterall
