The Last Remnant™

Don't worry about BR, you can play normally and never have to worry about making the game impossible to you. I don't want to tire you with specifics, but i have tried crazy stuff that noone would do in a normal playthrough, and i still manage to progress just fine after couple days of grinding. (it would be impossible not to have to grind after all i did) Other than that tLR is a unique game, no matter how much i have searched i have not found anything like it. For that i believe it is worth a try. Ofc that does not mean you gonna like it, but maybe you do ;)

I never got around to finishing this game. I didn't care for the combat very much. I found Jonny Young Bosch as the protagonist at a time when I was burnt out on hearing him in that roll didn't help get me into the game either. Mainly, I just found a lot of my reactions to things happening in the game were those of bafflement. I don't have much to say as I haven't played this game in nearly a decade. I just just going through and seeing which games I forgot to review and this is one from before I reviewed everything that I play. It's very rare for me to play this much of a game and not finish it, but the desire wasn't there back then and I have no intention of revisiting the game now.

This is a JRPG that has the most incomprehensible yet simplistic battle system ever devised for a JRPG. It's [i]not[/i] pure RNG at all, but despite that, it sure feels like pure RNG. This is a JRPG that does not let you make any decisions regarding your party members' equipment, skills, etc. Even though you're supposed to be commanding an army, all your soldiers get to choose their own loadouts. Most unforgivably, though, this is a JRPG that punishes you for grinding levels in the early game, even though it's necessary to clear the early bosses and amass needed resources. Ruin Johnson himself could not have created a more fundamentally broken and irredeemable pile of "subverted expectations." This "game" belongs in the same waste incinerator as Dragon's Dogma, as do their respective remasters and anybody who pretends either of them is good.
