tickled my nostalgia bone something fierce.
PROS(+) + great pixel art : it's pleasingly colorful and has nostalgic feel to it, even though this is my first time playing FF + great ost : music is so good. beautiful melody whenever i open, town theme feels like home, battle theme makes me excited etc + challenging : characters don't start too strong, battle becomes tight if u just go on with little grinding which is fun + 4 different characters : they all have different skills and stats + new good features : i like encounter on/off option, it may feel like cheating cus u can fight bosses with full hp/mp, but random encounters can be annoying so good addition. + talking to npc leads the adventure : i don't like to be spoon fed on where i should go, this game doesn't do this much and that makes it more adventurous CONS(-) - map is sometimes vacant : kinda bumming when there's nothing there. maybe could have been better - lack of inside wiki : could have been helpful if i can get more info on the characters beforehand. red mage and monk weren't really my favorite, they didn't fit into my optimal playstyle. red mage was a bit of a bummer whenever i drool at unobtainable spells of cool dark mage, wish i'd known - lack of storytell…
It's a fun basic rpg that does have a fair amount of replayability. Its definetly good considering its age it does a lot of impressive things for its age but definetly feels standard now. the combat system is very basic the isnt even a way to know about the turn order which can lead to a lot of frustrating deaths. it has a surprising amount of customization and is fun. but dont expect a grandiose story or worldbuilding. or even shocking gameplay. its a fun grindy game but im not certain most people will get much at all out of this game besides playing it as a FF fan or a person who appreciates gaming history. That being said its fairly priced and a overall good time so i definetly reccomend it.
What a good surprise to start a FF marathon. I was expecting a very straightforward story (which kinda is), but the twist around the final dungeon was welcomed. Also, you rarely have to grind (except if you want 100% of the bestiary, especially one mob in particular) and the music is fantastic.
Hey friends, long time no see! It is I, zushi and I’m going to share with you my thoughts on final fantasy 1! Without further ado…my thoughts! Story:5/10 Listen, if I was playing this back in 87 when it first released the story would be 10/10. Final fantasy is revolutionary and stands the test of time but having played other final fantasy games and just other games period there are better stories out there. The story is serviceable as it’s the ever so famous story of good versus evil and light shall prevail over darkness and things of that nature and that’s fine, I like that….what I don’t like is being lost because the story TELLING is next to non existent or I have to talk to ever NPC in the game to get a semi clue to what to do next. So for That reason overall the story was mid. Setting:10/10 I love final fantasy, I love finals, I love fantasy….seriously it might be very simple because it’s the first ever final fantasy but I really do like the setting because I do really love fantasy and final fantasy itself. I love that you’re in a world with castles, with churches and with fantastical elements like monsters and magic. I can’t find a single complaint for the setting because i…
Nice, but there's no new dungeons or bosses after you beat the game like there is in other versions of FF1. The new sprites are a good look.
