About A Game with a Kitty 1 & Darkside Adventures

Two very old freeware games shall live again! Play as chubby Kittey trying to foil the plan of an evil mastermind in A Game with a Kitty 1, or help the Archchancellor solve the mystery of Princess Daphodil's lost crown in Darkside Adventures.

These two games are retro 2d platformers with a focus on exploration. As you play, you'll learn new moves that'll let you find new places and treasures, even in previously visited levels. Run & hat-glide with Kittey in A Game with a Kitty 1 or wall-run with the Archchancellor in Darkside Adventures. Numerous bosses are waiting to be challenged, too!

What are you waiting for? Grab these moneybags and thoroughly kick some (evil) koala butt!

And, hey -- as a special bonus, I've also added Treasure Hunter Man 1 to the collection.

Features
  • Retro pixel graphics at a VERY low resolution
  • Two 2d platformers in one package
  • Partially non-linear gameplay structure with light metroidvania touches
  • Kinda hard (sorry)
  • Saving & level selection maps
  • Gain new skills as you progress through these 2 adventures
  • Ending variations in Darkside Adventures
  • A Game with a Kitty is relatively short (1-2 hours), but Darkside Adventures can take you much longer to complete
  • Completely free (you can support me by buying my other games if you like)
  • Amazing soundtrack by Sean Cameron (thank you)

Searching for the term "platformer" on Steam gives you over 17,000 results... there's thousands and thousands of garbage tier platformers infesting Steam. "A Game with a Kitty 1 & Darkside Adventures" fits right into that category of retro 2D shovelware glutting the Steam store. Only a tiny number of those are any good, and this isn't one of them. This very poorly made platformer fails to meet even basic standards for what PC gamers expect... as a game, well, it's awful, a kind of metroidvania-lite with a cat pixelblob, some badly written text everywhere, no optimisation, clunky controls, janky gameplay... this is a disaster. It looks like something the 1990's rejected. In the modern era of high quality bleeding edge PC gaming, these kinds of flat, lazy, lackluster platformers just don't cut it. Platforming is a dead genre for a reason. Even though this is "free", it failed to attract any interest for gamers here on Steam Direct for obvious reasons. Here's another case where Itch failed. They have like, ONE job... to act as containment to prevent poorly made amateur shovelware from leaking out onto platforms where gamers might see them and lose hope in the gaming industry. …

Fun freeware games that have aged well after years, even if at on point I was desperately searching for a walkthrough.

Free and challenging. Slightly glitchy. Includes 3 games and has a pretty good save system. Plus hot cat action!

fullscreening and unfullscreening breaks it, but other than that, it works. Actually kinda a really good game.
