Good game, not as spooky as the first but more of a summer vibe.1 found this helpful
This game is very similar to the first game, which unfortunately means it also suffers from the same flaws. The fact the game has no voice acting is unfortunate. If this was a 50hr long visual novel with multiple branching narratives I could understand, but this is really not that. This is pretty linear. Yes there are difference routes to take and choices within those routes…to unlock other routes…but there is really only one real ending. If you pick the wrong choice you are essentially losing the game and it doesn’t really go anywhere. The game is roughly 20hrs long and funded by SquareEnix…I feel they should have voice actors. I wish the game had a lot more branching narratives where your choices would matter…but that’s not really this game. I also disliked that I thought I was buying a murder mystery and this game is realllllllly not that. I mean you will solve the mystery in like the first 1-5hrs…it’s absurdly obvious who the murderer is. I don’t even think the game cares about it given that there is so much more story after even the game reveals who the murderer is. More problematic…the ultimate reveal of what is actually going on is kind of bonkers…this is an anime…1 found this helpful
This is a VERY good game series if you're looking for an out of the box experience with horror and mystery elements. I had such a blast with the first game, the way the mechanisms are placed in both games were so tricky and hard to find, but that is why I enjoy games like this. It takes time for you to understand the whole story. It MAKES you read over things that might be important later down the road, and it all still comes full circle in the end. The journey to and from point A to point B keeps the story interesting while introducing characters from different parts of the plot. So if you're pondering on getting this game. I personally say HELL YES! It is worth the money and just experiencing the story is so fun. I hope that Square Enix continues the PARANORMASIGHT series because I would love to see what else they can come up with!
A scary, hilarious and beautiful game! Several different routes with lots of cool character moments!
Great story and fun characters. Some of the story beats are great, but don't hit as hard as they could (i.e. the scene fades out too quickly, the animation is not scary etc.). It also felt like the developers were too afraid to lean into the horror elements even though they are clearly present. There were a couple moments that were carefully built up to that could have been intense, but weren't (probably in order to cater to as wide of an audience as possible). Still the story was amazing enough to make up for this. 9/10
A beautiful surprise to see a sequel to a horror V/N I couldn't recommend enough in PARANORMASIGHT 1! + Same incredible artstyle + Strong characters and an immersive story + Beautiful scenes and music - Baffingly crazy steps to get the 'real ending' like there's no way in a million years I would've unlocked that withouit a walkthrough - Basically no hint system for the rest of the endings too so that left me stuck in the end game - Not as scary as Honjo :( But overall, another unmissable V/N in this series and I would recommend it without question after the first one. B+
