Age of Defense

While I've enjoyed the game quite a lot, I still can't recommend it. GUI is absolutely horrible and bugs are happening quite often, which led to way too much frustration

It came SUCH a long way from the demo I've played in 2024-08. It's pretty much perfect from the first couple of levels and bosses. The system with the damage types is a nice touch and the second time I encountered a particular boss it was a blast! The systems are introduced well, I adore the presentation of the skill tree and the monster compendium. The humor is still very lovable and I'm very much looking forward to have many more hours with this tower defense gem. PS I think it's quite underrated [i]in its current state[/i].

Age of Defense is an energetic tower defense game that takes a familiar strategic formula and wraps it in a deliberately ridiculous prehistoric cartoon setting. Developed by Battlecruiser Games and published by Valkyrie Initiative, it focuses on defending a vulnerable tribe against enormous waves of monsters while gradually expanding the player's defensive options. Instead of approaching the genre with a serious military atmosphere, the game embraces exaggerated violence, goofy characters, colorful environments, and caveman-style humor. That personality gives it an immediately recognizable identity, but underneath the comedy is a fairly involved strategy game built around positioning, resource management, upgrades, special abilities, and adapting to increasingly troublesome enemies. The basic objective is simple: monsters advance toward the tribe, and the player must prevent them from reaching their destination. Defeating enemies provides resources that can be used to maintain and strengthen the defense. Some bugs, specially with time, if you pause, the game doesn't really pause, and, if you use super speed, certainly will have bug with wave counts, but the art is amazing, the game is easy and I enjoy playing it.

Age of Defense in one sentence: throw rocka at enemies until technology happens. 🪨➡️💣 Not too complicated, not too grindy, just a fun little time-killer when you want to defend your base and witness the beautiful evolution from sticks to absolute destruction. Awesome soundtrack and music in game! 7/10 Would bonk enemies with prehistoric technology again.
