AI Olympius

Like Mass Effect, but for just $15. Not as deep a story arc so far, but inventory management, weapon upgrades, special abilities, solid combat, dialogue, exploration, it's all there. The graphics are beautiful, lighting and water reflections notably so. Directions on next steps to take within headquarters between missions can be a little confusing, but I understand the developer is reworking and reworking this to try and streamline it as well as possible. Also, the game could benefit from additional optimization, but runs generally fine with only the occasional drop of a frame or two with my hardware. Haven't tried activating the DLSS option in the settings yet. Extra points for having vehicles you can climb out of when you inevitably flip them. Not being stuck inside or trapped with no programmed action to get out in an unorthodox manner when needed. Definitely take advantage of the demo, but I imagine you'll buy it after the first mission like I did.

AI Olympius is a science-fiction action RPG that combines third-person shooting with character progression, crafting, machine manipulation, cooperative play, and base-building elements. Developed and published by Lion's Shade, the game presents a future in which humanity has been forced into a desperate struggle against a dominant artificial intelligence. Rather than limiting itself to conventional battles between humans and robots, the game attempts to make technology itself part of the player's arsenal, creating an experience built around fighting machines, modifying equipment, gathering resources, and eventually using robotic forces against their original masters. The premise is straightforward but well suited to the mechanics. Humanity is resisting an artificial intelligence powerful enough to position itself as a technological god, while the player joins the effort to break its control. The Olympian imagery gives the conflict a slightly mythological character despite the futuristic setting. Great game, it is the continuation of the devs previous game Cliff Empire, city builder, set on years after it but its third person shooter with base building as addition instead. I like the different perspective and its good to see the story continue.

Better than most AAA games for 60+bucks. Coop-base building-shooter-RPG with very good sci-fi story.

180 hours in, and I still enjoy it. Story has a satisfying beginning, middle and end. Also allows you to build a base with all the accoutrements, including upgrade stations and defensive equipment. Combat works fine, balance is good. Levels can be replayed to work toward completion. Controller 98% compatible. I can't comment on co-op play. The dev is incredibly responsive - any bugs that do turn up (and there aren't many left at version 0.9.56) are addressed very quickly.
