HOW IN THE H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS IS ALPHA PRIME THIS GOOD??? this is not even some hidden 10/10 masterpiece that everybody unfairly ignored. this is a completely normal, borderline mediocre 6/10 sci-fi fps from 2007. the enemy ai sometimes runs directly into gunfire like it has somewhere important to be, the voice acting sounds like everybody recorded their lines at 3:00 in the morning, and the story is delivered with the confidence of a man explaining a dream he only half remembers. this is literally the exact kind of game you would find for $4.99 in the pc game section at ollie’s bargain outlet, buried between 30 obscure casual hidden-object games and something called “terrorist takedown 3.” which was released in 2004, yet based off the in game screenshots on the back of the box, looks like a cheap copy of delta force 2, a game from 1999. (delta force 2 from 1999 is better than the free to play delta force 2025 remake, crusty old janky games that you would install on a beige Windows 98/ME/2000/XP computer just hit different) this budget eurojank doom III ollies bargain outlet “oh im surrounded by a dozen casual hidden object games and fps’s with graphics that look 5+ years …

Runs well but the story and voice acting are so bad it actually takes away from the game. Gunplay is pretty fun but your damage output feels like you're shooting spitballs, while "Arnie" is made of paper mache and will have you back tracking for meds regularly. Love "retro" FPS games but this one is just kind of unfun. I'd leave this one in 2007.

One of the earlier games I played when it first came out and I am going through it again just to feed my nostalgia and my Sado/mass gaming self!:) Seriously screwed game mechanics that force you to play along with the linear "path" and play by the developers scripted rules which are irritating in this rather challenging game as it is with the fast moving robot enemies and armored Merch's tough to bring down. You can't jump properly or double jump when the game will not allow, and there is more frustration then entertainment here. I would not recommend it, but those are my reflections.

It's not a good game. But weirdly, I think people should play it. Partly for the janky charm of mid 2000s sci-fi, and for the ridiculous challenge the game offers. I found this game to be unreasonable. The enemy aim and awareness is incredible, and your guns and health are pretty underwhelming. The shotgun is decent, but you have to be so close that the enemies will nail you well before you can get in range. The machine gun is also not bad but feels really lame to use because you don't get enough ammo and have to play perfectly for it to be useful. I'm almost convinced this game was meant to be played with cheats. This is my main gripe with the game - you have to play pretty much perfectly to be able to make smooth progress. There are so many times even in the first half of the game that I found myself in a tight spot and had to rely on quicksaves to make sure I was making the perfect moves so I could progress. It started to feel like a turn-based game. It isn't fun. The story is kind of interesting, actually very acceptable for an FPS game, although the main character is not a convincing action hero, he is just a regular guy who is somehow capable of overcoming robots and speci…

Alpha Prime is nothing more than a fairly average sci-fi shooter, but what makes it different from similar titles is its difficulty. I decided to play on hard as most FPS games nowadays are not that difficult and was pleasantly surprised when I found myself losing half of my HP to one enemy and almost running out of ammo at various points in the game. The shooting mechanics aren't that bad and it's actually fun to have to use cover and the leaning mechanics to survive; the enemies are very accurate which is redeeming as you're mostly fighting against trained marines and robots that SHOULD realistically be accurate. I didn't even use any of the bullet time as you still die just as quickly if you try to use it to rush or play recklessly. Overall I was happy that I finally picked this up after it being in my library for 17 years, and I honestly feel like Alpha Prime is worth full price in 2026.
