Almohadin: escape from the basement is a fast-paced 2D precision platformer that combines old-school arcade difficulty with bullet-hell action, colorful cartoon presentation, and an intentionally absurd sense of humor. Developed and published by Talio Games, the game builds its identity around challenging movement while adding combat, bosses, rescue objectives, unusual power-ups, competitive stages, and story sequences. Instead of treating its basement setting as the foundation for a dark horror experience, it embraces comedy and eccentricity, resulting in an adventure that looks cheerful even when its platforming demands considerable accuracy and persistence. The premise immediately demonstrates the game's unusual personality. Almohadin is a pillow that inexplicably comes to life and decides to escape from the basement where he has been confined. Reaching the outside world is not straightforward, as the basement contains mysteries, dangerous creatures, prisoners, and increasingly difficult obstacles. Should you play it? Maybe, considering it's free, the decision is easier to make, but I recommend that you already enjoy games like Geometry Dash. This game is a precision platformer with a wide variety of enemies and perks to help you progress. In the campaign, the goal is to learn the basics (this is just the beginning), and then there are the tryhard modes (speedrun/no hit) where even more mechanics are introduced. It's a very ambitious project that was completed but could have been bigger if it had received more support (the dev is willing to keep updating it anyway, according to what he said on the discord server). It would have been great to see it with more game modes and many more levels. Even so, it apparently offers over 20 hours of playtime to finish all the content. And over 50 if you want to master it. This is the reality of Steam's hidden gems: developers don't make a living off this and can't afford to spend years on the same project. That's what Talio Dev did, creating his second game (TEKO), a Roguelike Deckbuilder; I sincerely hope it does much better, he deserves it.
