Chaordic

Chaordic is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer has a huge amount of window dressing and convoluted bolt-ons that add nothing to it and change none of the premise. What premise? This is just an endless jumper. Jump upwards continually through some pretty hideous (not on purpose) visuals that look like an art school dropout heard about Ken Done once and thought he was better. So yeah, this is all just jumping upwards on platforms and avoiding obstacles. Never mind the window dressing about "being a magical creator with special abilities", or any of the stats or anything else. It's an endless jumper. No wonder it failed. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming.
