Alpha Response

Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Tactical Intervention, which Minh Le (the co-creator of the original Counter-Strike) previously worked on. It was introduced to me once when it was still on Steam and I was blown away by how much fun and addictive it is, especially with friends. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to play it as much as I would have liked, and this left a gap in my soul for a long time, which no game could fill. And now, many years later, I quite accidentally stumble upon the recommendation of Alpha Response. When I found out whose studio this game was, I was excited and without thinking twice I purchased the game in early access. And I feel somewhat deceived... So, this is not Tactical Intervention, how I and many others remember it. It is not a sequel. This is only a spiritual heir, a separate game that resembles it which has partially adopted some functions, style and gameplay. Therefore, there is no famous Highway mission, repelling, rolls and many more. And it's dissapointing... Don't get me wrong, that doesn't make it a bad game. It's still a chaotic, dynamic, stupid action-FPS and I truly love it. But at this current stage, it looks and feel…

the concept is interessting and fun but, being a Unreal engine game, you already know what type of performance issues youre gonna be dealing with doesnt help the fact that it's not fully finished yet, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it might get better in the future, we'll see

Steam Early Access TOS states you shouldn't sell promises, it's not to crowd fund, and the product should reflect it's end goals - This game is LESS than a tech demo. Here's my experience - Didn't recognize my RAM being free, if you dont have enough "ram" it just won't launch into a mission, the game will crash. Audio kept popping, almost damaged my speaker. Hostage when rescued ran backwards. Foot falls and walk speed don't feel grounded. AI is programmed to just run to a point and shoot, they'll run Infront of you, run out into open gunfire, run into walls. This has been in development for two years and the next update they have is "adding ray tracing to improve graphics" - ray tracing is not going to improve anything if you don't work everything around it like texturing, models, and small visual tech.

Genuinely plays like a mobile game

It was really frustrating you are fighting against time every single second to beat objectives while fighting endless waves of terrorists with limited ammo

My main gripe with it is the sensitivity of the mouse, it's a bit hard to come to terms with it. Other than that, the idea is a 10 out of 10, the gameplay is a solid 7 out of 10, maybe a 6.5 because cutting those things on the hostages wrists is a but wonky, and the location is a 100 ou of 10 because it's my freakin home town! Give it a go and grab a friend for co-op, it's fun.
