I love where the game is heading and it's not entirely as bad as most of the reviews are saying it is. I think it still needs a lot of work done but it is in an early stage, the performance is a little dog water and its buggy but the updates keep coming and the team is doing great work to make this a functioning game. I would love to see these reviews change to positive, I love being the jtac operator and doing call ins. This isn't a paid review its just my honest opinion. Im heavy into milsim games and this one isn't so bad. If the devs see this, please change the ai loading screen bro😭

Such a complicated history of this game. I won't get into the drama. I don't care about that. DC on paper is amazing. The developer pumps out content at an amazing rate. Much time is spent on that and upgrading to the newest UE engine. While not enough time is spent making everything work together. The updates go out the community is at a stage that really is best for internal testing. Sometimes my error reports are acted on and sometimes they seem ignored. The key binding system is a mess and has been a mess for a long time. Rather than fixing it, new content is added which just creates more problems. For me it got to the point there was just too much to report. Updates just made DC frustrating to play. That said, if development of new content and engine updates were to stop while polishing DC became the priority, this could be an amazing game. I can't recommend this game until that happens.

Direct Contact is still rough around the edges, but there is something genuinely promising here if you enjoy tactical shooters in the older Ghost Recon / military sim space. It is not yet a polished finished product, and some of the systems clearly still need work, but the developer appears to be moving in the right direction. The most encouraging thing is the recent pace of updates. The game feels like it is actively being worked on rather than abandoned, and the focus on AI behaviour, tactical systems and overall refinement is exactly what this type of game needs. For me, the appeal is less about what it is right now and more about the direction it seems to be heading. If the AI continues to improve and the missions become more believable and dynamic, Direct Contact could grow into something quite special for players who miss slower, more deliberate tactical shooters. It will not be for everyone, especially if you expect Call of Duty-level polish, but if you are willing to tolerate some jank and support a project with potential, it is worth keeping an eye on. At a low price, I think it is an easy recommendation for fans of tactical FPS games who enjoy watching a promising proj…

This was originally the final part of my review, but it discusses what is now the sole gamemode, so I’ve pushed it up to the top. I also went over the character limit, so I’ve cut a few things that are no longer relevant. The FUBAR gamemode is a PvE extraction shooter gamemode with more streamlined controls and an array of other changes to the core gameplay structure. At the moment, it has two maps; one is very small with only one objective, likely intended as a tutorial map, and the other is much larger with four objectives and at least ten times the amount of enemies. You choose from one of four preset loadouts before deploying into either of these missions, which is fine, but it almost completely ditches any personalisation the game had in previous builds. Other changes introduced in this gamemode include infinite sprint and limited ammo, both of which are improvements over the classic campaign, and you CAN heal, but it is extremely finicky to do so. This gamemode also forces upscaling despite the options in the settings menu, [strike]and when paired with the scope variety, or lack thereof, it means that I as a sniper can’t see anything more than fifty feet in front of m…
