About And Yet It Moves

✦ AI summary

Jump, run, and rotate the world 90 degrees to solve physics-based platforming puzzles in this handcrafted paper-collage environment. Compete in speed runs against the clock and other players' ghost recordings while mastering mind-bending challenges across three beautifully unique worlds.

And Yet It Moves is a puzzle-platformer, set in a unique world, made of ripped paper. Within the paper-collage you can jump, run and last but certainly not least: rotate the world. Learn how to apply the physical consequences of rotation to master the many tricky situations you may encounter.
You can play a race against the clock on different levels, too, competing against previous clocked times. Your run will be recorded, as a "Ghost" which can be submitted, along with your time, to the global high scores online. You can download other users' Ghosts to compete with friends and strangers around the world and see who found the fastest route.
Following the acclaim of the previously awarded prototype for And Yet It Moves, we present the full version, containing three exciting and beautiful environments and lots of new challenges.
  • Advanced platforming: Not only can you jump and run, but you can rotate the world in 90 degree intervals, as well.
  • 17 levels with a unique look & feel: Mind-bending puzzles set in an extraordinary paper collage world, with three different environments, enriched and brought to life with handmade sounds and music.
  • Speed Run mode: You can compete against the clock or previously recorded Ghost Runs on each level, with marathon runs throughout the entire environment.
  • Online high scores and shareable Ghost Runs:Go for the high score by challenging your friends or complete strangers and polish your skills of rotation.

An unusual indie platformer built around one strong core mechanic: rotating the entire world around your character. You can change the direction of gravity, which makes familiar platforming situations work in unexpected ways. A wall can become the floor, the ceiling can turn into the path forward, and a simple jump can become a small puzzle about momentum, timing, and fall distance. The gameplay is mostly about careful movement, spatial puzzle-solving, and knowing when to rotate the world at the right moment. At times the game demands precision and can be a bit frustrating, especially when a bad rotation or fall forces you to replay a section. Still, the main idea is implemented well, and the levels gradually find different ways to use the mechanic instead of relying on the same trick over and over. The visual style is also worth mentioning. The game looks like an animated paper collage, with torn edges, cut-out textures, and slightly surreal backgrounds. It is not just a decorative choice, but an important part of the atmosphere. The world feels strange, fragile, and a little abstract, which fits very well with the constant disruption of normal gravity. Overall, "And Yet It Mov…

Despite being released several years ago, this game is still a very original puzzle-platformer and it still has not lost its spark. The concept is simple and has been used countless times since then: use the environment to progress through the levels. In this case, rotation is the key. The puzzle aspect of each level is very attainable once you get used to the physics of the game. Additionally, new interesting mechanics are introduced as you advance through the levels, which is always welcome and prevents the game from becoming repetitive. I wish these mechanics were exploited more, to be honest. The paper-collage artwork is definitely unique and gives the game a very special personality, although the novelty wears off quickly. Maybe adding a little more variety, such as other elements to interact with or use, wouldn’t have hurt. The sound effects, though, are another story. Although the self made sounds seemed an intriguing idea at first, they became annoying too fast for me. The crunching sound heard every time the character dies (which is quite often) is currently stuck in my head. What I struggle with the most is how the fall damage and the momentum gained with rotations are…

This one is kinda interesting. It's my first time playing a WiiWare, and knowing that this is an almost 20 years old indie platform for a motion-controlled console, I played it with more of a historian mindset rather then just try to get genuine enjoyment from it. Well I was surprised! Ok, the physics-based falling is sometimes frustrating since it may cause accidental deaths, but the level design was well studied for what the movement possibilities can offer (not a masterpiece, but it does his job). The gimmick itself can be kinda tiring or annoying further on, but it didn't bored me. Also I think it should have been a perfect fit for the WiiMote capabilities. Overall, I liked this game. It's not exactly "fun" in the ortodox way, but if you wanna try something different, I feel to recommend it.

Puzzle platformer with a unique paper cutout artstyle, and one of three games (the other two being VVVVVV, and Gravity Rush) with gravity direction changing mechanics where I actually like what that mechanic adds to the game. I finish incredibly few games from bundles, I just like trying them out, and supporting indie devs, but this was one of the very few I actually played all the way through, and picked up as a gift for a few friends I thought would enjoy.

Full review: https://thegamehoard.com/2026/05/01/picking-up-steam-and-yet-it-moves/ And Yet It Moves gradually finds its footing with the rotation mechanic in the same way the player does. Right as the novelty of walking on walls and ceilings wears out, new objects and entities start to interact with your world spinning antics, giving you more puzzles to figure out and trickier platforming to pull off. At times though, the game’s rough nature gets in the way of your enjoyment, your standard jumping already a bit weak but some gimmicks can be a bit unruly to wrangle if you don’t do them perfectly on your first attempt. The game gets more creative the deeper you get into it, but it’s certainly held back by how often your failures arise from little issues in how the game handles the way you and other objects move.
