Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars

Review after 100% ♡♡♡ small budget indie game. It got promise, but so clunky controls. Im thorn between thumbing up or down. Feels like im the emperor in a Gladiator movie and I stand there, live or die! I will say for a free game this is a thumb up as long as your willing to live with the clunky controls but lets face it. I have over 19K free games on Steam, most of them have clunky controls because this is not a heavily polished game. If this was a pay game, I would say thumb down. I can see the work the devs have poured into this game and I dont want my review to reflect little their effort in making this game. What an absolutely wonderful game. I really enjoy story rich games and this one hit the spot perfectly. Extremely impressed with this game and the creators should be really proud of themselves!

Honestly thought this game would never end. I had to play this in a couple sittings. I love the lore and how in depth it is. I did make a video on youtube that is a full length game play, as there is none available on youtube. Amazing game!

Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars is a story focused adventure that takes me into the cold and isolated town of Haven. I play as Michael, who has moved there with Lily and Gabrielle after a tragic event, but things quickly become strange when he starts having dreams about dark water and something ancient hiding beneath it. I like the setup because it takes its time building the mystery instead of throwing everything at me immediately. It has a strong Lovecraftian feeling without needing to rely on constant combat or cheap scares. The exploration is mostly built around classic point and click adventure ideas. I can move around Haven, speak to the people living there, inspect objects, collect things and work out how different pieces fit together. There is a lot of lore to discover, and I actually enjoyed taking my time with the environment because there are plenty of small details that help explain what is happening. The game also has multiple ways of controlling Michael, although I think the point and click system works best for this type of adventure. The atmosphere is probably the strongest part for me.
