About Ballavita

Ballavita is a cinematic 360° VR-Film that will take you on a fantastic voyage into Maria’s dreams and nightmares. Newly developed cinematic techniques were used to create Ballavita, melding live actors performing complex choreographies with beautifully designed worlds, all in stereo 360°. Ballavita is a half-hourlong fantasy tale inside a fully immersive stereoscopic world.

Maria is a young, hotheaded but insecure tango dancer. During a rehearsal Maria loses her temper after getting ridiculed by other ensemble members. Anton, who she just started dating also refuses to take her side. While storming out of the building angrily she falls through a trapdoor into a cellar, where she encounters an old man who invites her into his basement apartment. Little did she know, that she is actually being lured into a parallel world, where the old man seeks to steal her dreams and preserve them for his own amusement.

Ballavita is a 360 virtual reality film inside an application that includes special features:
- audio commentary by the director and the director of photography
- original audio in German and English
- subtitles in German, English and Chinese

Players praise this VR film for its experimental, dream-like visuals, elegant choreography, and director's commentary, making it an appealing introduction to cinematic VR experiences. However, several users report significant audio sync issues on Oculus Rift headsets, with some experiencing complete audio loss that forced refunds, which appears to be a notable technical barrier for potential customers.

Its nice to see VR films like this on Steam. I would reocmmend showing this to people that are new to VR or prefer casual vr movies with filmed actors. Especially if they appreciate experimental dream-like visuals and elegant dance choreography. Its nice that there is a director's commentary in the menu, I always wondered how they shoot movies like this.

Was a great concept and I really would have liked to watch it, but my Oculus Quest running Rift (beta) was unable to transmit the audio. Tried many restarts/reboots and config changes but the best I could get was audio that was minutes apart from the video. Refunded it unfortunately.

A very interesting fillm experience with fantastic colors! Thank you for making a German version available. To me hearing it in German with English subtitles made it more authentic.
