About Beasts of Burden
Gameboy advanced inspired art style with a modern finish. This engaging horror experience will take you into the world of everyone's favorite childhood game with a twist, something's not quite right. As you loop through the same day over and over things get more and more disturbing and there is much more than meets the eye. Play through old-school RPG combat, interact with NPCs, and unravel the mysteries of this world as you play through this familiar world.
Inspired by the infamous false advertising campaign of Evertale this deep psychological horror will deliver on the promise that many of us wished for but didn't get to see. It has iconic visuals, amazing music and sound, and a deep story under the surface that you may have to think outside the box to uncover. There are many secrets to uncover, and a hidden ARG that ties them all together, can you find them all and learn what happened to curse this game?

Pikachu is frickin' pissed and is gonna kill you... he got a knife, bro, just back off, it's not worth it. Damn.
This is, unfortunately, just... not a very good game. I have to congratulate the developer for making a game in the first place, doing that is hard and even a game like this probably took them a lot of effort. But it's not a very enjoyable experience in almost every possible aspect. Firstly, the story is... I don't even know. It's regular, basic "scary haunted EXE" game fanfare and it's given in such little chunks that the player doesn't feel enticed to learn more or get interested. There is something slightly interesting going on, from what little I could gather about the events that happen during the game, that kind of feel like a half-assed way of commentating on animal abuse and humanity's callousness towards animals (and even then I don't think that's really the focus considering the game seems to highlight the suicide and mental health warnings more. although props for giving profits to mental health) Speaking of the game itself, the gameplay amounts to pressing the arrow keys upwards, and spacebar every once in a while. The battles, which SHOULD be the most important part of a Pokemon-like horror game, are simply button mashers in which you press space to either win or for…
WARNING! SPOLIERS KINDA! "Why did you do it?" 'cause mfs lvl capped me at F**KING ONE and didn't let me leave the tutorial town. "You hurt my wormy!" You lost fair an square the first time but kept coming back. Now you have pulp, enjoy. "You hurt me!" GOOD. Kept sendin' your worm to get ghosted, that's animal cruelty. You will NOT get sympathy from me, join him in hell. "You hurt your own creature!" MF betrayed me FIRST. Reach for my neck, get turned into an example. Don't mean nothin' to me man. "Look what you did to all the townspeople!!" Gaggle of rubbernecks SAW I was havin' trouble tryin to leave, didn't lift a finger! Also: no one welcomed me into their house, even just to look around! Doors barred all around town; that's poor hospitality to guests, and THAT's why God leveled Sodom and Gomorrah. Its not MY fault if I'm chosen to be His instrument of teaching. The lesson? LET ME LEAVE DAMMNIT "You hurt that bird!" .....ok i feel bad about that All seriousness its waaaay too repetitive for me. Any spookiness to wiped due to the frustration of being stuck and repeating the same movement over and over and over again. I couldn't even finish it. I mean it IS free, and the repe…
Really great game but now I can't sleep. Thanks.
It feels kinda like a mix between the gratuitously gory games PETA used to make to make people feel bad for playing Pokemon and a cursed cartridge creepypasta. Frankly it just made me uncomfortable, and not in a good or fun horror sort of way. Are there good horror games that make you feel uncomfortable? Absolutely, but this one is a miss for me.
In all honesty, this game was pretty fun! Found this game through a comment on a Game Theory video about Evertale. I wish the ads were like the game, so thanks to this one, I was able to have a similar experience if I got to play the game if it were like the ads! Thank you lotsa for making this fun! Only complaint is that I was disappointed that I didn't get to go into Route 1. If this included more stuff like Pokemon, (gyms, trainers, caves, and in general, more Pokemon), then I would certainly pay for this game (if i had money lol)! Loved it! :D
