About Biodigital

Biodigital is a Sci-Fi interactive story set in the year 2117. In 2117, humans live inside the biodigital space, a space where minds are embodied in machines made of biological and electronic parts. Biodigital tells the story of how humans got into the biodigital space. It begins describing the societal changes produced by the rise of ancient communication technologies, from printing to television. Then, it describes the rise of neuroimplantable devices that allowed humans to clone their minds into the biodigital space. The rise of neuroimplantable technologies was accompanied with new moral dilemmas, who questioned whether a person's mental clones could remain telepathically connected to its predecessors.

Biodigital is a fictional story created in a collaboration between Takahito Ito and Cesar A. Hidalgo at the Collective Learning group at the MIT Media Lab. Takahito Ito is a visualization engineer in NHK (Japan's public broadcasting company) and Cesar Hidalgo is the director of the Collective Learning group at MIT.

Biodigital was a side project for both Taka and Cesar during a visit that Taka did to Cesar's lab during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Biodigital is a free VR experence. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Series of VR experiences strung together to make a hypothetically story set into the far future while a female narrator is telling you the story of the current experience. Maybe there is something to be learned from this program. I did not see the problems that the other players have seen in the Negative reviews. Try it and delete it.

"Biodigital" isn't a game. Real games require "gameplay" through loops and interaction, both of which are missing from this "art project". Rather than functioning as a game, "Biodigital" is just a software app that presents a low-quality art "experience". The subject of this art school dropout exercise is the "artist" explaining to you patronizingly about what they think Ray Kurzweil's "Singularity" is. They are wrong. And they chose to publish their laughably awful misinterpretation as a garbage VR tech demo, to annoy Steam gamers I guess, who are looking for PC games, not art installations. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art bette…

graphics is not wow which would be not a reason for me to give negative review if it is compensated by other features of the game but they are worse than the graphics view direction was 90° to my right with no possibility to reset it to my front. so I always had to turn right. also it was a little too high for playing seated. Oculus controller work somehow but buttons are weird at least I am not sure what button did the trick. i think it was pressing the stick I could not figure out what it was all about, I managed to see some short clips about events in history, without sound or anything while i had to turn my head over my right shoulder and press the right stick of my controller Eventually I got some sound... at least for 3 seconds between I closed the game and Oculus home showed up

Seems to assume Vive controls, I can't find a way to make Rift controls work.
