An intense and psychedelic experience. Whilst short, it still excels in what it presents and delivers! If you're in the mood for a quick game of rescue your beloved and wish to fight some horrors to do so, Blue Wyrm delivers you an excellent dish of just that.

Smartly designed and wonderfully compact psychedelic action dungeon crawler! There's nothing I love more than a short, challenging experience that ends on a high note. The combat is reminiscent of first-person Sekiro, with high importance placed on strike timing. I love how much depth is mined from a simple set of actions: do I farm health with weak strikes, risk a perfect thrust, or wear my enemies down with quick horizontal slices? I love the 60-minute arc of beginning the game feeling entirely helpless, while ending in a fast-paced tornado of perfect strikes and well-timed jumps out of harms way!

Relatively simple and extremely fun. I played through the whole campaign in a bit over an hour, the story was sweet and the buildup was paced very well, it even had me genuinely worried for the characters at points. The atmosphere and style is mesmerizing, I loved how much the game did with so few elements visually and play-wise. Its hard not to keep going on about it but this game I feel does exactly what it sets out to do, short and sweet with a dynamic but not at all unfair challenge. (I have yet to play anything other than the story but I am looking forward to playing on different maps.)

It's a short, replayable dungeon crawler with its own twist on first person melee combat. The story mode took me a little over an hour the first go, then 15 minutes the second (you learn some things the first time). There's hidden rooms (one I never figured out how to reach the back of) and your clears are timed. In this sense, it really is in the spirit of ye olden games who cared more about player mastery than any kind of metric like runtime or achievements. There's an arena mode I haven't touched, but given how Blue Wyrm's combat gets more engaging the more enemies there are, it may not remain untouched. I came here expecting a first person dungeon crawl, which comes with the expectations of exploration and methodical combat. In that regard, Blue Wyrm's dungeon is shorter than expected, but delivers on secrets; the combat is as methodical as it is frantic. However, it's designed with replay in mind. While Blue Wyrm didn't scratch the itch I was hoping, I may linger in this fever dream a bit longer.
