Goonies x Pitfall II = Bones Beneath. Great game, and the accessibility options are excellent, and needed because the game is hard (in a good way).1 found this helpful
I've not finished this yet (controller issues) but I have to say I really really like this. Normally I'm not one for hard and precise platformers but this one hits that perfect sweet spot. Every room I do I feel like I'm routing a speedrun because more often than not going fast is easier than taking it slow. The game controls are really tight and smooth, it really feels super satisfying to clear a room or even a boss. I also love the retro style and soundtrack. For me the only thing missing are statistics. There's no way to know how many times you've died for example, something I have been very curious about since I started this game (you will end up dying A LOT in this game) Anyway, great game! I really recommend it if you like challenging 2D platformers, or just difficult/challenging games in general.
Such a shame this game isnt talked about more. it is like an nes style celest. i love the music, the sounds, and the areas. the game is pretty difficult, even compared to some of the difficult games ive played (Super meat boy, spelunky, celest, knight try) but its not impossible, however i am a freak who loves super difficult platformers. It took 11 hours to beat for me, and id say thats mostly because of the difficulty, the game isnt too big, and you explore most of it while going through the normal gameplay which is a positive for me. i hope the Devs see this if you do, Hi im in the discord :) im Golden sigma on there
Great game! It feels like a bit of a combination of I Wanna Be The Guy and Super Meat Boy, but without troll deaths. I really enjoyed the art style and music. The difficulty ramps up pretty quickly and the game doesn't hold your hand. If you get stuck though, there is a instruction manual included with the game with a bunch of helpful information. A few small areas to polish are present. Sometimes there are frame rate drops (even with high-end hardware), but I later found out in the instruction manual that it is recommended to manually specify my monitor's refresh rate in the options menu. It might be good to ask the player to do this when starting a new game to provide the best experience from the get-go. The rooms never felt impossible to beat, but sometimes it the room-to-room difficulty varies greatly. So there were times that I died a dozen times in one room, and then I beat the next room on my first try. Your mileage may vary though. Also, during the final section of the game, [spoiler] the boss feels slightly janky. The lightning bolts in the second and third phase sometimes change their direction to follow the player if you cross over them too early. And in the final ph…
This reminds me of those ultra-precise platformers where every jump has to be perfect. It’s tough, but incredibly satisfying - I caught myself smiling every time I finally made it through a tricky section (even if it took me 10 minutes to get there, lol). Despite the unknown Steam Deck score, it runs smoothly on Deck. It took me a minute to get it working with my custom button mapping, but once I did, it played great. Overall, a great experience - looking forward to completing more of it.
Super fun game but it's challenging! Get ready to die, A LOT :P
