✦ Story
Cage of the Succubi is set in a dark fantasy world where a human protagonist is captured and enslaved by succubi. The initial premise is simple, but the narrative slowly expands as you progress through the game. The main goal is to survive, grow stronger, and push deeper into the dungeons while uncovering bits of lore along the way. The story becomes more interesting in the later stages, especially through optional books that explain past events and reveal the protagonist’s true origins, tied to an ancient lineage of heroes. While the narrative isn’t the main focus, it provides enough context and payoff toward the end to make progression feel meaningful.
✦ Gameplay & Mechanics
Gameplay revolves heavily around dungeon crawling, farming, and stat management. You explore multi-floor dungeons, defeat enemies, gather materials, and craft potions to boost your stats. The game is very grind-heavy, especially on default difficulty, and progression requires patience and preparation. Combat is split between two main resources: Vitality, consumed when fighting regular monsters Endurance, consumed during encounters with succubi Another crucial stat is Resistance, w…1 found this helpful
Well-made short game (about 12 hours in total, which I consider short for an RPG). The story was believable and not too far-fetched. In terms of gameplay, combat was very easy, since normal enemies are attacked by walking into them. Only on bosses do you have to work for a victory. Leveling up skills and stats is also easy. The only downside in terms of leveling and stats is that they are capped. If someone runs into problems and can't continue, even with a maxed-out character, he's locked out of the remainder of the game. Also, the boss of the first level set is way too strong compared to the bosses from the other level sets. The game lacks the ability to reread what certain stats do; you get them explained once, and that's it. Write it down, or you have to guess. A random level generator makes every fleeing attempt unique; sometimes you get healing, and sometimes you get the level set boss multiple times. The length of the game was chosen very well, since there is not much variation in terms of gameplay, and a longer game would have become boring. 12 hours, including reading the story, was a good length.
It's an NSFW RPG maker game. It was hard to get into but once I understood how it worked, I had my fun with it. Not great but I liked it. Raising my stats gradually was a satisfying feeling. I liked the story a lot more than I thought I would, too.
the quick time event is too fast and frequent.
Fun game I liked it, challenging and hard (...) but would be nice to see a remake of the game. Like 3D maybe or more master tier animation. The game do have animations, but... you know you can do better. Any way fun game, it's really hard at the start. but would play again with or with out the remake!
I've really enjoyed this game, this is exactly what i was looking for i wish there were many more games like this. (or even just more of this game specifically i'd buy an expantion/a second game in a heartbeat). The game being hard makes it more fun to me personally even if it can get a little bit frustrating especially in the begening when you dont know what you are doing, it starts becoming really fun. The characters as well are amazing. Just dont forget to get the patch for content you bought this game for by going to the Kagura website :)
