Caravaneer 2 is a rare kind of game that feels almost deliberately out of step with modern design trends, prioritizing systemic depth and player autonomy over accessibility or presentation. Developed by Dmitry Zheltobriukhov, it places you in a desolate, post-apocalyptic desert where survival depends not on scripted heroics but on careful planning, economic awareness, and an ability to adapt to a world that does not bend to your needs. Rather than guiding you through a structured narrative, the game drops you into a living system and expects you to figure out how to survive, prosper, and eventually thrive within it. At the center of the experience is trading, which initially appears straightforward but quickly reveals layers of complexity. You travel between settlements buying and selling goods, but every decision carries weight. Prices fluctuate based on local supply and demand, and profit margins are shaped by distance, risk, and your capacity to transport cargo. A profitable route is never guaranteed to remain so, and the act of simply moving goods from one place to another becomes a calculated risk. You must account for food, water, fuel, and the condition of your caravan, all…

Caravaneer 2 hits the sweet spot of "number go up" and not so simplistic RPG with deep lore. You are constantly getting stronger but without much hand holding. There is no voice acting so be prepared to read a full novel while playing the story. The price is worth it IF you are into Fallout 1&2 style RPGs. Pro tip: Turn up the saturation and down the brightness however you can, like in your GPU settings. Don't play in full screen. Instead turn off full screen and maximize the game's window. Doing these things with makes the game look way better without taking away any charm.

A real gem of a game, got it for $5 and played for hours and hours. The wiki has a lot of good resources to understand how trading works. Highly recommend this game.
