Cellings is a game that is heavily inspired by the cell sequence from Spore. The game offers a fun and cozy experience that feels like its own game. The game’s developers have taken more than just the cell stage from the release version of Spore, and the game changes as you progress. You start as a blob, whose goal is to eat whatever it can to grow. When you evolve, you’re given an intricate customization menu where you can design and evolve your blob further, by adding combat capabilities - or, interestingly, beautifications to make them charming to other cells. You can rotate your cell, add new parts (including appendages), and build and optimize them for your intended playstyle. The game also offers base building options once you’ve got enough evolution points to move onto sequence three. At this point in the game’s lifespan, only a few of them are worth getting (if you’re playing a pacifist route); unless you provoke other cell forms, you won’t need towers to defend yourself. My only complaint would be that it's criminally short!! I loved this game, but finished it in an hour. I eagerly await new additions and updates, should there be any. Very well done!! Well worth my time. It was so visually appealing, and the music was so relaxing. I got lost in it. Everything Spore's cell stage wished it was.

Highest quality, but my creature still moves about as if each part is individually teleporting (during first stage, I'm essentially locked to a grid). At lowest quality, my FPS is still stuttering heavily and the game is essentially unplayable by the third stage (which is still in 2.5D). My GPU may be old and there's a bit to simulate, but the Spore level of detail really doesn't warrant this. Somehow, From the Depths runs better than this. FYI, I'm using Proton to play the game.
