About College Baseball: Dynasty Builder

Welcome, college baseball fans and text-based management fans. Like you, I've always wanted a college baseball game to play.  However, that was not possible until now.

College Baseball: Dynasty Builder lets you take over a college program, recruit top talent from across the United States, and win a championship.

Features:

A very competitive recruiting model that the AI follows the same rules as the player.  You have to spend your resources wisely to build your team.

A fun and interactive postseason system that has conference tournaments, regionals, super regionals, and culminating with a college world series.

Very customizable allowing users to use their own logos and conference setups. The Discord will have logos and universes for players to download and use. You can get to the Discord from the main menu screen.

I try to respect the player's time and the simulation time is extremely fast. To simulate an entire 56 game regular season schedule for 300 teams takes under 1 minute on most PC builds.

Stat tracking for season and career stats. Do you want to see which player born in Georgia has the most career home runs? No problem.

Transfer Portal is in the game to frustrate you like real life coaches! In all seriousness though, I've found that you can get multiple starters from the transfer portal if you target correctly.A dynamic prestige system that works with your school attribute ratings to help grow your school into a place that recruits want to play for.

Also, High School Mode has been introduced. A tryout system is used instead of recruiting, and there is a unique playoff system that has champions for each classification.  The mode is still a work in progress, but I believe it is one of the first games that try to mirror high school baseball.  However, the simulation engine does not have substitutions or two way players, so it doesn't completely mirror how high school baseball is actually played, but it can still be fun and a different type of game than the college mode.

What the Game Isn't:

There are no 3D graphics or play by play engine.  So you will not have the opportunity to call the hit and run on a 2-1 count in the 6th inning.  I want to make that clear, so I don't have anyone upset at me.  I would love to have a system in place, but as the only person working on the game, I had to make decisions on what could be done.

There is a box score for every game, so you can see the breakdown on how the game went.  However, you will not be able to watch the game "live".  For post-season games, there is a slow sim style of showing you the score after each half inning, to give you a little bit of a live feeing.

I am a HUGE fan of simulations, and especially sports sims. I have pretty much all of those that are available on the steam platform. Bear with me...I am a scientist by training, and pretty thorough in my analysis and thought process. I will also attempt to make this entertaining, being the goofball that I am! Please note that I have 15 full hours of this game, at the time of this review. Watch the hours climb over time. I am hesitant to trust reviews with limited time...as the subtleties and nuances of any simulation are not readily apparent, initially, and DO take time to suss out. I purchased this game, and immediately went on the dev's discord, and found the link to the JSON files to make an accurate starting universe. 308 teams, ranging from prestige 1 to prestige 9. I chose to start with my local D1 university, Lindenwood, here in the western suburbs of St. Louis. I wanted to build up a team from the lowest point. As a Coach/Manager/GM/AD, I also started at the lowest experience level. As the seasons have progressed, and based on the cumulative results, both the universities prestige, and my personal experience level have continued to improve. It is completely possible…

This is a fun college baseball simulation game. It has most of what you would expect, like recruiting, setting lineups, conference tournaments, the college world series, and more. The only thing missing is in-game management, and at the rate this developer adds new features to the game, it may well be in the pipeline. There are no real colleges included with the game, but there is an active community that has re-made the modern college landscape, complete with logos for teams and conferences. There is a high school mode as well, and several community members have made their home state's high school baseball teams playable in game. I have done so as well. I would have recommended this game for baseball management game fans or college sport management fans long before many of the recent updates went live, and I whole-heartedly recommend the game in its current state. The developer is extremely responsive on the Discord, and many community member suggestions have made it in to the game. If you think of anything the game's missing and let the dev know, there is a high chance you'll see it in the game in a matter of days if it is viable. I have watched it happen several times…

Let me be clear: I honestly think that this game is a bit niche, and if you’re thinking about buying this, try the demo first. That being said, this is one of the best offline simulation games I’ve ever played. Between the consistent updates and the absolutely amazing work put in by the dev, this game is great for people like me who absolutely adore text based sims with lots and lots of stats and content to look at. If you like the demo, I’d highly recommend buying this game, I did so and don’t regret it in the slightest!

Great game. Easily in my top 3 of GM games. Developer is super responsive and works really well with the player base to bring new features to the game.

This is my kind of sports management sim - enough depth to be compelling, not too much that I can't get a few seasons in during a shorter session. Having a lot of fun with it so far and the dev has been very responsive in the Discord. Looking forward to sinking more time into this one.
