About Commander '85 Prologue

The Prologue version explores the origins of the Commander computer, explaining how a military-grade technology appeared in a small suburban house. Meet the characters from Commander 85 on your own birthday party, and receive a gift that will change your life forever.

“13 May 1985: Today is my BIRTHDAY!!! Mum gave me the best present ever! a Commander 85 – a super modern computer with real artificial intelligence! It’s very smart, and I can talk to it and play games on it. I can’t wait till the other boys see it!”

Commander 85 is a sci-fi thriller about a seemingly ordinary birthday present that changes the lives of the main characters forever, disturbing the sleepy peace of the Chicago suburbs. However, when the military experiments get out of control and the world faces the threat of nuclear war, you won’t be alone. Together with a group of friends and a crazy scientist, you’ll have to try and end the Cold War, discover the secret of the Commander computers, and find out the mysterious truth behind the Roswell incident...

Decide the fate of the world using an advanced system of interaction with the computer’s artificial intelligence. Build its trust and friendliness towards you, listen to its sarcastic comments and even watch as it quarrels with your parents! With hundreds of possibilities and random elements in the game’s plot, every time you play will be different, with your choices leading to one of three possible endings.

Immerse yourself in the life of Polish immigrants in 1980’s America, learning more about their culture and problems. Remember that all parents are the same, regardless of their origins. Experience a sense of nostalgia as you recall your own childhood through the game’s randomized events and elements of your environment, from discussions about the school to nagging about how much time you’re spending in front of the computer. Complete the chores your parents give you, too – they may prevent you from saving the world, but at least you won’t be grounded or banned from playing!

Features:

 • Historical setting featuring the culture and technology of the 1980s. Includes various Easter eggs and nostalgic references.
 • Innovative artificial intelligence system affected by every choice and decision, which allows for various plot twists and different endings.
 • Randomly generated plot points and elements of the player’s surroundings make every adventure interesting and exciting.
 • Numerous additional tasks and optional activities further vary the gameplay each time.
 • Radio stations created especially for the game – with programs, commercials, and music, to help really immerse you in the atmosphere of the times.
 • Numerous games and programs you can install, run and delete from the Commander.
 • Graphics inspired by VHS recordings, with additional sequences in the style of period-specific movies.

Commander 85 is meant to be a C64 computer. Our kid protagonist gets it for his birthday then we have the opportunity to use it at home. We participate in a birthday party at first then there is an intro showing us heading home on a bike. The music already takes us back to the '80s. And if it wasn't enough you'd be surprised what else the kid has in his room! Posters of movies from the '80s, familiar books such as the Shining by Stephen King and a radio with several station to tune in to. Home Alone was actually released in 1990 but if we look at the years of making it that poster should also be fine. The game is played from the first person but movement is restricted. We spend the majority of our time bound to our desk. If you look around in our room and interact with the bed the kid automatically goes there and picks up the remote while lying in a comfortable position. Otherwise we can interact with a lot of objects (floppy disks!!!) and can use a lot of commands while using Commander. As soon as we establish internet connection we can start hacking our school database to ensure our attendance is 100%. Then, suddenly, we get a virus and we find ourse…

Intriguing... and weird: ... is this 'lil game here. As you take on the character of our protagonist, you will be gifted the COMMANDER '85 for your birthday. Thus, it's unpacking first. Next, end the party and send your friends home. Then, it's time to activate your COMMANDER '85 in your room... while your mom comes in to tell you not so good news about your school-attendance. Next, while trying to hack into your school's computer in order to change your logged attendance, you'll catch a virus... So far, the game seems logical. But from the point in time when that virus enters your COMMANDER '85, things go astray quickly & thoroughly. I've no clue how to proceed from there: Whatever I do (go to bed, play a game, pet the dog, etc.), it doesn't seem to take me any further, nor does it have consequences... all that while time & again, mom is yelling at me to stop playing with my COMMANDER '85... As it is, I'm about to loose my motivation to keep trying things. Add to that a looong manual for the COMMANDER '85, the reading of which doesn't give me any clues, either... and you got my reasons for not being able to recommend COMMANDER '85 PROLOGUE in its current state. Which is a pity…
