About Congo Merc
During the 1960s the newly independent Congo was the scene of constant warfare. Congo Merc puts you in the middle of that fighting with a task force of elite commandos. You conduct breakneck advances into the heart of enemy territory, seize critical objectives and, just as important, return to home base.
Based on the board game by Decision Games, Congo Merc includes everything from hostage rescue to tracking down Cuban cadre. You recruit from a variety of unit types, including jeep-mounted commandos, light armor, sappers, air support, paratroopers and many others.
Once a task force is organized, you maneuver it into the Congo. The map covers the entire country, and when a force enters certain points an event occurs. Events can include anything from UN intervention to ambushes by enemy fighters. Combat is resolved via a quasi-tactical procedure in which both tactical superiority and firepower play their parts.

Bugged tutorial that hasn't been fixed in 6 years. That said if it happens, just start a new game and quit it and repeat till it fixes the issue. Like all HexWar Games it lacks documentation so it's pretty much a mystery how anything works. Now let's say you do get it to work, prepare for the worst RNG game of your life. If you love the feeling of having entire mechanized divisions wiped out by untrained militia, this is the game for you. I must not be understanding it, but the enemies are ridiculously OP and getting a positive KIA ratio seems impossible. TLDR: Used the CIA to overthrow a democratic government, but I'm still the hero. I have mixed feelings about this game...In the one hand I like round-based strategy games like this and I dont have seen any bugs so far. But on the other hand the combat system is a mess because it uses basicly coincidence. The game dice the combat result. It dosent matter what unit you have a normal infantry can strike down a tank (armoured car) and thats dumb...This system is unfair or maybe I'm just. unlucky, but my units allways miss the target or even worse get panic after an attack or got killed. Thats just frustrating. It dosent matter how tactical you are a complet group of armored cars will just get rounded up by ONE single infantry...*Sigh* I wouldn't recommand this game. It has potential but its far from away "strategy" because its purly based on luck. Ich bin geteilter Meinung was dieses Spiel angeht. Auf der einen Seite mag ich runden-basierte Strategiespiele und ich habe soweit auch erstmal keine Fehler im Spiel erlebt. Aber auf der anderen Seite ist das Kampfsystem pures Chaos, denn es basiert fast komplett auf Zufall. Das Spiel würfelt die Kampfergebnisse aus. This is an implementation of the board game from Decision Games. The game seems pretty faithful to the board game. However, it has some bugs. For example, the ability to transport your ground units by helicopter doesn't work.2 found this helpful
Head into the jungles and urban chaos to fight the Simba rebellion as Roland with his CIA friends. As one may expect, the jungle is full of many bugs so bring your "Alt+F4" bug spray and chuck dice back and forth to maintain that positive KIA counter.
