About Cozy Space Survivors

Explore a colorful, tiny universe. Help its cute inhabitants solve their problems. Use satisfying weapons to defend you and your new friends against hordes of quirky enemies. You can focus on controlling your shipy while shooting happens automatically. There are unique landmarks to discover, and enemies leave experience points for level-ups to gain new skills. In addition, you can mine chocolate asteroids to unlock permanent upgrades.

- Short (2-4h). No Filler-Content. Made with Love.
- Unlock permanent upgrades with chocolate (so that losing a run does not feel like wasted time).
- Cute characters with small quests.
- Satisfying combat thanks to "BOoM", "PFRZZzz" and other cool effects.

I drew a lot of inspiration from other games, and here are the most important ones:
- Vampire Survivors for the general simple (but awesome!) gameplay
- Binding of Isaac for physicality of bullets
- Halls of Torment for adding Quests to a Vampire Survivors-Like
- Fallout for the story summary at the end of the game
- Into the Breach for the little NPC dialog texts which add so much atmosphere

Hey, I'm Simon and I made this game because I love cute graphics, "Survivors"-Likes and Sci-Fi. Unfortunately, many space games are too complex and too time-consuming for me, so I wanted to make something lighter. I also like, when games respect the player's time and are rather short than stuffed with filler-quests. I hope you like my little project, let me know! :)

Well-made bullet heaven that's sadly too short. You can choose from 5 "shippies" but there is only a single map and all the shippies have the same quests which makes the gameplay loop redundant. I would only recommend the game to those who are looking to finish something with all achievements in one sitting.22 found this helpful
It's an okay VS style game but feels more like a demo than a full release as it's 2 hours long. Would only recommend if on sale or bundled. The different ship types are interesting (especially the last one) and I like all the weapons, but unfortunately there's not much enemy variety and every run feels the same. The objectives spawn in the same place so it gets easier every time you play. Would be better if objectives spawned randomly, and if there were more enemies and maps.2 found this helpful
A quite enjoyable game, sadly a little bit on the short side. It mixes some cozy elements with a roguelike space shooter; it is not too hard and pretty relaxing.
I bought this in a bundle for 60 cents and now I feel like I stole from the dev! What a delightful little game 😊 Gameplay is what matters most in a game like this, and I can say that it nailed it! The main game loop has you survive the map for 10 minutes with each ship to unlock the next, for 5 ships total. Additionally, there are some quests that you can finish again with each ship. The cool thing about this is that the ships are so significantly different from each other, as opposed to just a reskin with speed/power adjustments, that after the second one you kinda relearn the game from the ground up with each one. This keeps the game fresh and challenging throughout, I was impressed at how balanced it felt, I think people who say it's repetitive stopped before trying all the ships. It would be a recommendation just for the above, but on top of it: - It really does care about your time and avoids wasting it. Continuing the point above, if it was 30 minute runs and 40 hours long, it would definitely become boring indeed. However, it is exactly as long as it needs to be, I like finishing games, but I can't finish things that are more than 15-20 hours, and even that is a struggle…
It’s hard to downvote. It’s cute and clearly a labor of love from the dev. But if you’re really into roguelikes like hades and vampire survivors you’ll fail to be challenged and may find it hard for CSS to hold your attention. For those of you interested in dipping a toe into the water of roguelikes this may be a short short and sweet trial. However I’d still recommend VS over this for the price point there is more replayability and variation. CSS will occupy your time for a couple hours but there is very little reason to replay once you beat it. But is it new, unique or do something different? Nah. Is there chocolate and smiling planets needing your help? Yes. I found myself discovering what the dev intended with learning the gameplay it was confusing initially kinda fun in the middle and then fell short of holding my interest. I’m about 80% and not sure if I’ll go back to finish. I can appreciate the arcade like vibes of old where you could easily sink quarters in round after round of asteroids. I had fun and enjoyed myself for a bit and I’m thankful for the roll of quarters I did not spend. Runs well on steam deck. It’s fun for a little while but gets repetitive in way th…
Short little game. Got all the achievements in one session. Ran well, minor frame drop after minute 11 in any round, probably due to the number of enemies; that said, you don't ever need to go past 10 minutes, so it's not really an issue.
