Cube Raiders

As a fan of the Playstation game series ([i]Devil Dice[/i] on PS1, it's sequel [i]Xi-Jumbo[/i], and [i]Bombastic[/i] for PS2), I bought this game thinking it would offer a similar experience on PC. It does not, and as such I'll be mainly comparing Cube Raiders to these games. ✅ In terms of gameplay mechanics it's essentially the same as the first game, but with the possibility to climb dice or jump off them at any time. ✅ Decent art style and music for a casual game... it does not justify the need for a dedicated graphic card, however. ✅ Similar to the PS2 release, Puzzle mode levels feature scenario obstacles and hazards that interact with dice too, which slightly increases the challenge... 🟡 But, that's the only new strategic element. Unlike the original games, dice do not have any inherent properties beside how the environment affects them. 🟡 A somewhat modern notebook should be able to run a game like this just fine. Ice Temple levels cause FPS drops, and the game does not offer video settings. 🟡 Overall, the game itself is somewhat easy, so I've decided to just complete every level and achievement. ❌ The game has some notable bugs, and [b]player movement is sluggish[/b]. Great game, similar in mechanics to Devil Dice on the PSX.

I tried launching on deck and it did not work. No worries, not all games are compatible. I went to the PC and plugged a controller in and Steam informed me that controllers are not compatible with this game. Again, no worries. I unplugged the controller and made peace with a WASD game. When it launched it said, "We recommend using a controller". Lol, that is always a good sign, smh. There was no tutorial, no guidance. I had to research how to play and what my objective was. Games should not require research, unless you are jumping into a sequel without having played the original. Too many red flags caused me to turn the game off, uninstall, and move to something that better keeps their customer in mind.
