Cyber Surf

"Cyber Surf" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from IED in Italy. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is a very poorly done VR tech demo, a simple "flying" game where you wave your arms around in VR and jankily move along different "racetracks" in the sky... or don't. I'm pretty sure playing games this bad while in VR could lead to something like a Lawnmower Man crisis. Игра 'Cyber Surf' оставила смешанные впечатления. Визуально проект очень привлекателен: яркие неоновые цвета, футуристичные локации и стильный дизайн создают захватывающую атмосферу киберпанка. Геймплей, основанный на скольжении по волнам виртуального пространства, поначалу увлекает своей динамикой и ощущением скорости. Однако, со временем, однообразие механик начинает утомлять. Отсутствие глубокой сюжетной линии и разнообразия в задачах делает игровой процесс предсказуемым. Хотелось бы больше интерактивности с окружающим миром и возможностей для кастомизации персонажа или доски. Музыкальное сопровождение неплохое, но быстро приедается. В целом, 'Cyber Surf' – это неплохой проект для коротких сессий и любителей казуальных аркад в сеттинге киберпанка. Однако, потенциал игры раскрыт не полностью, и ей явно не хватает глубины и разнообразия. Если разработчики добавят новый контент и доработают механику, проект может стать настоящим хитом.
