"Daiichi Dash" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This very poorly made 2D retro platformer/shooter features godawfully bad visuals, slightly worse gameplay, and an utterly offensive plot, as the developers tried (and thankfully failed) to get YOUR money off the back of people suffering from the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Yeah, these guys want to get paid for exploiting and making light of real human suffering. Disgusting, isn't it? Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. In terms of visuals, this features really godawful MS-Paint/"baby's first Wacom tablet" tier "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hir…

Daiichi Dash is a very fun and unique platform run and gun. The art and sound design are incredible and blend well together to create and immersive world that is able to tell an interesting story with no dialogue and very few cut scenes. Although the gameplay can be very challenging, once it has been mastered there is a certain fluidity to the game that pushes you to try and beat your best times and high scores on each level, it would be awesome if we could get a Global Leader Board in future so I could compare my scores to others. One other thing I would like to see added to the game in the future is a creative mode of a way of appreciating the art in its entirety without worrying about enemies and platforming. I would definitely recommend this game if you enjoy an old school run and gun challenge.

I found Daiichi Dash a very Intriguing game, It is about a Japanese girl seeking vengeance for the destruction of her hometown. The plot of this game is in a psychedelic world where you are playing Aiko, you are in this old school arcade Video game (goes very well with an X Box controller), going about running and gunning not not just that - you have controls mated to many actions, you can briefly fly, use all sorts of weapons that you could have only imagined to have on a side scroller game like Contra. Daiichi dash uses these colourful hand drawn graphics and intense techno music to keep you engaged. This Game is difficult but it always keeps you on the Edge. To sum it up i'd say an arcade game taken into a full blown Psychedelic trip. I had an amazing time playing it. If you love controller based games, THIS IS YOUR PICK!
