DARKON

DARKON is a game that feels like a very early version of a much bigger multiplayer shooter. The idea is pretty cool because it puts different alien species into a war over Earth, and I liked the science fiction setting. It is a free to play game in Early Access, so I went in expecting the experience to be fairly limited for now. That definitely turned out to be the case, but there is still a decent foundation here. The shooting is the main focus, and I found it fairly straightforward to get into. The game currently has different ways to enter battle, including dropping into the map from an aircraft or starting directly on the ground. There is also an open world style option where I can explore without a time limit. I liked having these different approaches because they give the multiplayer experience a little more variety than having one single battle format. The alien species are another part that I think could become much more important as the game develops. The full concept is built around different species having their own abilities and combat styles, which could eventually make choosing a character feel meaningful.
