About Darkstar One
Pilot the customizable Darkstar One across a vast galaxy filled with diverse races and ancient artifacts, earning credits through combat, trading, smuggling, and bounty hunting to upgrade your ship and tackle an elaborate story-driven campaign. With over 200 weapons and equipment options, special spell-like weapons, and the freedom to play as hero or villain, you'll tackle missions your own way across a richly simulated universe.
In addition to artifacts, acquire credits to purchase better equipment, such as weapons and shields. Earn credits in a myriad of ways: by taking on assignments, bounty hunting, piracy, smuggling, trading, escorting, transporting, rewards and more.
- A vast, simulated universe with many unique races, space ships and battle tactics.
- Elaborate story, related by more than fifty minutes of video sequences.
- Configure and upgrade your ship, Darkstar One, any way you choose--build a fast attack ship with many light weapons or a near-invincible cruiser with heavy weaponry.
- Over two hundred different weapons, shields and equipment items.
- Rockets, torpedoes and mines feature special tactical uses: mines can fire at opponents or distract approaching missiles.
- The "Spell Weapon": a special weapon with a powerful effect similar to certain spells in role-playing games. This weapon becomes increasingly versatile throughout the game and greatly increases tactical options.
- Acquire weapons from other races - Mount distinctive weapons from other races on "Darkstar One," each featuring unique functions that require different battle tactics.
- Embark on special missions - explore canyons or even underground on unknown worlds.
- Freedom of choice - earn credits in many ways: fighting, piracy, assignments, smuggling, trading, escorting, transporting, rewards, and more.
- Play as the "good" or the "bad" guy and take advantage of political disputes.

A true classic of the action adventure RPG space game as they were back in their early days. Great story, great gameplay loop.2 found this helpful
The game tries to pretend to be an open-world space-sim, but in all honesty it's more of a linear space shooter. There's only 1 ship (it can be upgraded), and the new star sectors open up in a pre-determined sequence. You technically can return to previous locations, but there's no point in doing so. Fun enough for a playthrough.1 found this helpful
old and outdated , but if u like space games w/ weird looking aliens, then give it a go. I still play freelancer-crossfire mod tho.1 found this helpful
Play a space game...because I like space. Get jammed into flying my spacecraft inside a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ building. Poor design, fellas....and you do it again, and Again, and AGAIN....did you have 8 year olds write the script? Study up on what "Difficulty" means, while you're practicing your design. Just went through the 2nd Flak Save the Research guys fight...was IMPOSSIBLE (set on 1 difficulty...I failed it 5 or 6 times...) Perversity set in...and I said fcuk it, I'll play it on impossible difficulty....Pumped difficulty all the way up....and beat it first try. You guys need to revisit difficulty if you ever build another game. To the "final boss battle"...big surprise...it's inside a trench, just like Star Wars. You guys really need to broaden your horizons....people don't play space games to fly their ships around inside buildings.... UGH.
its one of my favourite space simulation RPG. galaxy on fire is another must. is there any you would recommend i play
old memories with this one, good ones! still a good game, in my - you know, humble and all ;-) 'bit buggy though, I am not sure, maybe it's me. as I said: old memories...
