David Slade Mysteries: Case Files

This about a detective on his first homicide. I had early access to this game on my Quest and am now trying the PCVR version at a much later date. It has come a long way since the initial launch especially the detail of the forensic tools in the case (I initially had trouble opening it until I realised one had to press the word “OPEN” rather than trying to unlatch the case) which you use to collect the evidence by taking photos, blood samples and fingerprints. The detail of the crime scene is very realistic and you find yourself getting drawn into it. There are puzzles to solve and various items to collect to complete the tasks. The developer is always on hand at Discord to give advice if needed so overall I think the game is very enjoyable and would give it a rating of 9 out of 10

Update: Just finished the first chapter. The atmosphere is amazing. Only negative I found is, that you can't choose between hmd and controller oriented movement. Everything else is really good. Original: I haven't gotten really far yet but I can already tell this is a really great game. But be aware, this is hard. There is no handholding, you need to think like a real detective and figure out everything by yourself. But the good thing is, that the puzzles, while being tough, always make sense so far. Haven't played anything like it yet, this is truly unique!

David Slade Mystery Case Files is really good I highly recommend this to anybody looking for an experience similar to LA Noire. Episode 1 has the detective going to room 202 based on a complaint from a neighbor and that's the one thing I would have liked to seen in this game was the ability to go around and knock on doors and actually question the neighbors but even without that the game still holds its own. All in all David Slade is a great game and has me excited to play its sequel Riverside Slasher 7/10

If you're like me, someone who's been waiting for a good detective game in VR, then look no further because this game is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game, and it's an incredible bargain at this price. In this game, you'll need to rely on your perception while searching for evidence using your forensics kit. Despite a few minor issues with controls and such, the game perfectly implements the evidence collection mechanic. I definitely want more. Just finished the first case file. Really enjoying this game! You can see a lot of love has gone into the development of this game. Looking forward to starting the next case file! If you're looking for a challenging, in-depth, detective/crime scene investigation, VR game that won't hold your hand, this is the game for you!

Works on Reverb G2. David Slade Mysteries: Case Files includes 2 very different episodes: original murder scene investigation and much more generic adventure/thriller. Both suffer from boring puzzle design, poor visuals and borderline game-breaking jank. VR detective game is such a cool idea, but there are no games (including this one) that successfully bring it to life. Investigation in DSM suffers from being to basic: you do not need to make any conclusions, just photograph, sample and collect every object. And you have to process clues in a strict arbitrary order: I've got stuck for a quite some time trying to gather fingerprints before taking a 2nd photo. Almost all of the puzzles are just "find the hidden object in a dark area where it is hard to tell, which parts of the low-res environments are interactable". And interacting with anything in DSM is a huge pain in the ass. Item handling and climbing is janky, crouching in that one tunnel section leads to constant height calibration glitches, key objects can fall through the geometry requiring a level restart.
